When it comes to environmental consulting, we’re focused on cleaning up our communities today to improve tomorrow. We’re seeking an experienced Professional Geoscientist or Professional Engineer to lead environmental site assessment and brownfield re-development projects, implementing characterization and remediation solution services for industrial and government clients. You’ll apply your technical experience in environmental characterization and remediation to plan and oversee the strategic execution of project tasks while championing safety, quality, and the well-being of your team.

Based in either Calgary or Edmonton, you’ll have the opportunity to work on remediation projects across Alberta, with the flexibility to work independently at home or in teams at the office. You’ll lead a team and oversee the planning and execution of field investigation activities, interpretation of data, preparation of Phase I & II, and conceptual site models and other technical reports spanning the whole life cycle of a project. You will lead the overall execution of the project including scope development, budget and schedule preparation, subcontractor procurement and oversight, field supervision, environmental sampling collection (such as soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapour), database management and reporting. You’ll be supported by a diverse group of industry leading technical expert available through our multiple communities of practice. You’ll interact with regulators apply your knowledge of regulatory processes to file record of site conditions. You’ll drive innovation and promote the use of digital tools and electronic data capture. You’ll build strong relationships with our clients and work with client account managers to position and win new work. You’ll demonstration continuous alignment to Jacobs core values to achieve our clients’ goals.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • A minimum of 15 years of professional experience including at least 5 years as Licensed in the Environmental Site Assessment field related to environmental site assessments & characterization, risk assessments, and remediation.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental engineering, geology, or related field.

  • Licensed professional geoscientist (P. Geo) or professional engineer (P.Eng) in the Province of Alberta.

  • Practical work experience leading and guiding field teams executing soil and bedrock drilling and stratigraphy logging, groundwater monitoring well installation, groundwater and soil sampling and soil vapour sampling at brownfields, large industrial/commercial facilities, and major construction sites.

  • In-depth knowledge of Alberta’s environmental regulation and guidelines.

  • Strong, persuasive technical writing skills to support proposal writing.

  • Experience in successfully filled RSCs with the AEPA.

  • Ability to demonstrate a strong record in health and safety, including experience with behavior-based health & safety programs.

  • Must hold valid Alberta driver’s license.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Experience with emerging contaminants.

  • Experience assessing contaminants in bedrock.

  • Experience working concurrently with risk assessors to achieve regulatory approvals.

  • Experience preparing excess soil management plans in accordance with the new regulations.

  • Good understanding of geotechnical implications of soil re-use.

  • Experience managing projects in accordance with current and evolving project management principles.

  • Business devolvement acumen that seeks to uncover our client’s problems and find industry-leading, innovative solutions to solve them.

  • Experience with environmental software implementations in a consulting/industrial environment, including demonstrated experience with electronic data capture of field data.
