Junior Aquatic Biologist


Jacobs Engineering Ltd (Jacobs) is currently seeking an Junior Aquatic Biologist to join our team. This position will be based out of the Calgary office and include a considerable amount of work in the field, with the successful candidate being responsible for conducting field work, gathering technical data and contributing to technical reports. This is a temporary (term) contract position for 12 months, beginning approximately December 2019 based out of Calgary, Alberta.   • Masters or Bachelor degree in fish or aquatic-related studies, or equivalent demonstrated experience 3-5 years of directly relevant experience conducting and managing aquatic studies (such as fish and fish habitat assessment and water quality monitoring)

  • Strong field skills and experience conducting aquatic field work in remote settings

  • Knowledge and understanding of fisheries and aquatic environmental assessment methods, as well as mitigation measures to maintain the aquatic habitat

  • Relevant oil and gas and regulatory experience is an asset

  • Knowledgeable with the Federal Fisheries Act, and other relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation in western Canada

  • Hold or be eligible for P.Biol. or R.P.Bio. Certification
