Position Summary

Responsible for the design and coordination of work as well as leading the piping engineering task force on a project.

  • Developing detailed specifications for the project by utilizing the client specifications and / or Jacobs' specifications

  • Preparing the technical sections of inquiries, reviewing tenders and making recommendations leading to the selection of vendors for piping specialties, valves and engineered items such as springs and rigid supports

  • Conducting stress analysis for piping systems and working with Piping Engineers to achieve an acceptable piping layout

  • Review and approval of stress isometrics and calculation packages. Review and Stamping of IFC isometrics

  • Developing competent knowledge of piping systems such as piping material specifications, code requirements, valve specifications, and stress analysis programs

  • Review vendor drawings as required and review/stamp IFC isometrics drawings

  • Review and approval of specialty list, data sheets and material requisition packages

  • Preparing or assisting in the preparation of the cost estimates for bids and proposal work as required

  • Participating in departmental performance evaluations for piping department staff as requested by the Manager or Supervisor of piping engineering

  • Assisting in providing technical advice to other levels of piping staff

  • Assisting in organizing and maintaining departmental engineering guidelines

  • When required on a project, coordinating check-out and start-up of field facilities and coordinating work with construction personnel

  • In addition, at the discretion of Manager or Supervisor, interview job applicants and make recommendation for hiring

Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering degree or equivalent required

  • Minimum of 10-12 years' of relevant experience required

  • High level of competency and experience in Oil and Gas pipe stress analysis with sound practical problem solving aptitude required

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required

  • Membership with APEGA or eligible to get membership in APEGA is required

  • Eligibility for a Professional Engineering certification is required

  • Expertise in Oil and Gas piping materials engineering including selection of criteria of common pipe materials and valve trims, piping specification writing skills and experience with common piping specialty items preferred

  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred
