Jacobs Optimization Engineer in Cannon AFB, New Mexico
Jacobs is seeking a qualified Information Technology (IT) professional to support the USSOCOM SITEC II Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) contract. Optimization Engineer performs tier two and three systems support in accordance with the SIE OPORD. Optimization Engineers must be detail-oriented and have in-depth knowledge of optimization hardware and software for application and network optimization. Experience in traffic analysis and management, security, communication, and encryption is required. Perform testing and analysis of network and application traffic to baseline performance and optimize and shape traffic flow. Responsible for planning, modeling, design, installation, maintenance, and management of software and appliance solutions to optimize traffic. The Optimization Engineer monitors and controls the performance and status of resources by using software and hardware tools, as well as by identifying and diagnosing complex problems and factors affecting performance. The Optimization Engineer keeps his or her technical skills updated and studies vendor products to determine those which best meet the Government’s needs.
Typical duties include:
Engineering enterprise solutions for application and network optimization
Establishing and operating optimization test functions and capabilities
Maintaining secure data transmission of optimized traffic
Working with vendors, the Government, carriers, and technical staff on implementation, optimization, and ongoing management of optimizations solutions
Providing high-level support and technical expertise in traffic management and optimization technology

CCNP Enterprise Infrastructure OR
F5 Certified Performance Engineering Associate OR
Riverbed Certified Performance EngineeringAssociate
Experience Requirements: Eightyears of increasingly complex and progressive experience in computer systemsand solutions, including one or moreyears of specialized experience related to the candidate’s assigned task.
Work will be performed inside a large facility.An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low tomoderate noise, bright or dim lighting).
Work assignments vary based on clientrequirements.
Work may include travel with the military toparticipate in exercises in austere conditions
Outside work may include various environmentalconditions including hot, dusty, cold, icy and windy climates.
Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop.Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files upto 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.
May require climbing, working at heights and insmall confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets and serverracks. Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel or crouch for long periods oftime. Work in noisy areas with hotterand colder temperature than standard office environmental conditions. Lift andtransport equipment up to 50 pounds.
General office equipment, which includes:telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous officeequipment.
Servers, switches, routers and other computerequipment that supports the network environment.
Operating hand tools, power tools, ladders andtest equipment.
May require operating motor vehicles.
Regular attendance in accordance with establishedwork schedule is mandatory.
It is important to be able to work anyshift/designated hours required.

Position may require night and weekend work andcould include travel with the military to participate in operations/exerciseslocated in areas with field conditions

Employment is contingent upon obtaining allrequired certifications within the timeframe specified in a waiver by thegovernment (if applicable) and maintaining required certifications through theduration of the contract. Failure to obtain/maintain required certificationswill result in disqualification for this position and could result intermination.
