Jacobs Traffic Engineer - Cardiff in Cardiff, United Kingdom

Your Impact:

Our traffic engineering staff are part of our Transport Planning team, which is one of the most successful in the UK & Ireland, with a varied client base and strong pipeline of work, alongside supporting further project teams across the globe.

We are looking for an experienced Traffic Engineer to join our Bristol, Cardiff or Exeter teams with proven expertise in a range of traffic engineering projects. We are particularly interested in candidates who have an interest for developing their project controls/managements skill set.

You will have the support of a line manager and our experts to guide your progress and will have on opportunity to share your skills and knowledge by training and supporting others in the team. You will also be given the ability to pursue relevant business and technical training to support your career development as well as the freedom to grow your network and develop innovative solutions to chase new opportunities.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Technical knowledge with experience in applying a variety of industry and local standards (DMRB, MfS, SPDs) to a transport network.

  • Experienced user of AutoCAD

  • Project support experience demonstrating responsibility for task, financial and risk controls

  • Accounting & project controls experience, working within a project based environment

  • Robust written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely

  • Flexibility to manage diverse workload, assist with new business opportunities and embrace emerging technologies, product solutions and the future evolution of the industry

  • Strong Outlook and Microsoft office skills with an interest in learning IT systems; including Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Desirable Skills

  • Wider experience of local transport planning work e.g. network management, Business Case development, transport modelling etc.

  • Experience working for consultancy business that supports public sector clients

  • Experience working for an engineering consultancy business

  • Experience with GIS software

Education/ Qualifications

  • HNC, HND, bachelor or higher qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject

  • Working towards Chartered status with membership of a relevant professional institution.
