Jacobs Entry-Level Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist - North America - Various Locations in Cary, North Carolina

We are looking for an Entry-Level Health Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist to support our Advanced Manufacturing Facilities North American project portfolio.

As part of our team, you will provide HSE support at a client facility. You will be directly supporting the Project HSE Manager, and indirectly supporting the Project Manager, Construction Manager, and Regional HSE Director to lead HSE excellence and deliver a project ensuring no worker injuries or negative impacts to our client’s business continuity.

We’ll rely on you to take personal ownership and responsibility for protecting people from harm and for driving strategies and performance while supporting continuous improvement. You’ll own and maintain open communication with the Project HSE Manager and subcontractor team members to coach and provide technical resources and guidance to ensure alignment with client and Jacobs HSE expectations. Assisting all Jacobs, subcontractor and client stakeholders, providing interpretation, training, technical review and regulatory guidance to ensure alignment and consistent implementation of the Jacobs HSE program.

You will support the incident investigation and reporting process, including support of subcontractors in the collection and submission of relevant information to facilitate an effective root cause analysis. You’ll assist in the administration/implementation of Jacobs project specific HSE plan and support subcontractors in hazard assessments and implementation of their own plans, as well as participate as required in meetings or other forums relevant to project success.

The travel anticipated with this role will be to and from the project site. Future project assignments may require additional travel within the US, and potentially North America.

  • Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Fire Safety, Construction Management or other related majors with HSE and/or a risk mitigation focus

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Valid driver’s license with no major infractions

Ideally, you will also have

  • OSHA 30 Hour Training (construction)

  • An internship in construction or previous work in construction providing context for the application of HSE principles and requirements

  • Working knowledge in applicable regulatory compliance, as well as all federal, state and local agencies requirements

  • A professional HSE Certification (BCSP or other) in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering or related field or ability/willingness to obtain this certification

  • An ability to communicate effectively with Hispanic members of our workforce
