Description

Jacobs is seeking a Desktop O&M Technician in Chantilly, VA. Duties will include:

  • Responsible for testing, repairing and deploying a wide variety ofservers and workstations in support of a global telecommunications network

  • This technician is required to make lowest repairable unit (LRU) repairs forservers, workstations and associated peripheral devices such as keyboards andmice

  • On a daily basis the Desktop Support Tech is required to monitor actionsfor a timely repair to meet the customer Service Level Target (SLT)

  • Additionally, the technician is responsible for documenting their actions in aDatabase Management System, which serves as a knowledge base used as areference for researching issues

  • The employee has full discretion andindependent judgment as it relates to the incident tickets

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph required

  • Requires a minimum of three full years of experience specific to the skill and must be reflected

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Mustbe able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization bothverbally and in writing

  • Proficiencyin the use of MS Office product suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint)

  • Mustpay attention to detail, provide good customer service and remain alert at alltimes

  • Musthave experience with CPC operating System & peripheral knowledge, basicunderstanding of PC to network connectivity, basic understanding of DHCP

  • Priorexperience with cable testers, link runner/Flukes, COTS IT products andticketing systems

  • Make independent decisions that deal with the daily schedule andwork to be accomplished

  • Theemployee is not involved with personnel or compensation decisions

  • Abilityto analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan layout, including typeof computers and peripheral equipment modifications

  • Abilityto analyze user needs and recommend appropriate hardware

  • Willingness to updateknowledge and skills to keep up with rapid advancements in computer technology

  • Knowledge of principles and processes forproviding customer and personal services. This includes customer needsassessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customersatisfaction

  • Proficient in many facets of information technologyrequirements

  • Should possess general business knowledge andsoft-skills allowing them to be adaptable in a wide array of work environments.The candidate should have the willingness to participate in these type ofactivities when called upon to do so

Essential Job Functions

Work Environment:

General Office environment. The work environmentis fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature ofthe work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other membersof the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Physical Requirements:

Employeesmay experience extended periods of standing, walking, climbing, bending,crouching, and lifting light to moderately heavy objects and equipment. Use ofladders or scaffolding may be required with the use of required safetyequipment. Employees may be exposed to potential health hazards.

Equipment and Machines:

General office equipmentincluding PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and othermiscellaneous office equipment.

Attendance:

Attendance is critical at alltimes. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday.However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs tobe available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meetlast minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

Other Essential Functions:

Must be able to communicateeffectively both verbally and in writing

Grooming and dress must beappropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to theemployee or others. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhancesproductivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.Mustbe well-organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple taskssimultaneously. Must work well under pressure to meet deadlinerequirements. Must be willing to travel as needed. Must take and pass a drugtest and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check.
