Your Impact:

At Jacobs, we’re making our world better with every professional project, and we know the importance of accurate estimates to the success of these projects.

We’re looking for an experienced Cost Estimator to prepare a wide range of estimates – from conceptual to detailed design – for civil projects that could include roads, bridges, buildings and/or light rail station/mass transit. Based in our Chicago, IL office, you’ll review design documents, proposals, specifications, drawings, attend design development meetings and make site visits to define the scope of work and cost impacts required of the estimate process.

You’ll work with a knowledgeable and supportive team as you prepare estimates by developing project work breakdown structures, calculating complete scope of work take-offs, assist contracts staff with statements of work for subcontractors and vendors, apply construction means and methods, calculate indirect field and owner’s costs.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Progressive cost estimating experience in civil, roads, bridges,buildings, and/or light rail station/mass transit projects

  • Ability to read and interpret contract documents and construction plans

Ideally, You'll Also Have:

  • Bachelors' degree

  • Familiar in the use of e-Builder or similar construction management software and Microsoft Office

  • Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) experience

  • Ability to drive to the construction site

  • Willingness to train in OSHA, CPR and other Jacobs mandated training classes
