The Civil Engineering Co-op at Jacobs provide engineering students an opportunity to gain real-world experience in their specific area of study. Co-ops will work alongside world-class professionals in a fast-paced, professional setting which provides interns invaluable experiences applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a business environment. A minimum of three work terms are required. Preferably Fall 2022 (mid-May – mid Aug), Summer 2023 (Jan – mid-May), and Spring 2023 (Sept. – December). This posting is for the Fall 2022 Term start.

The candidate would be exposed to tasks civil engineering disciplines including roadway design, structural engineering, transportation planning, aviation, and intelligent transportation systems.

Typical work tasks include:

  • Perform calculations and evaluations in the design of solutions and systems for public infrastructure applications.

  • Develop plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules for use during project construction.

  • Use of computer-assisted engineering software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

  • Collects and prepares data for evaluation.

  • Plan Development

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • In pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited program

  • Must be at least a rising Junior

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or MicroStation

  • A previous internship related to your field of study

  • Self-driven time management and organizational skills
