Based in Chicago, you will have the chance to work on exciting and engaging large-scale infrastructure projects and utilize your highway/roadway design expertise learned at school and working on transportation related projects. Position qualifies for the “Future of Work” work environment where you will spend time working both in the office and time working from home. You’ll work with a group of Engineers and Project Managers in the business. We want you to be empowered to deliver the boldest solutions for everyday living. Anticipated start date May 2024 (Spring 2024 Graduate).

Primary Job Responsibilities:

The Civil Engineer (Transportation), EIT that will assist with the development of plans for intelligent transportation systems, geometric improvements, traffic signal design, traffic modeling and analysis, field data collection, and report writing.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

  • Course work related to transportation / highway engineering.

  • Engineer in Training (EIT/FE) or ability to obtain in 6 months.

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills

  • Related experience required (Co-operative or engineering internship)

  • Experience using CADD/Design software (MicroStation/Inroads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D)

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Experience working on roadway and civil design projects.

  • Knowledge of, and experience applying traffic engineering concepts using the highway capacity software, Synchro or other microsimulation software.

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • Strong time management and attention to detail

Other Essential Functions:

Candidate must have passed the FE exam and be interested in working towards PE license. Some work-related travel will be required. Candidate should be eager to learn, willing to take on new tasks, interact with clients, and grow professionally with Jacobs.
