The CTR Joint Venture provides program management, engineering, construction management, and IT implementation services to the Chicago Departments of Water Management (CDWM), Transportation (CDOT), and Assets, Information, and Services (AIS) in Chicago, Illinois. As part of the CTR Program team supporting the City’s IT initiatives, CTR leads IT implementations in a suite of existing systems utilized by the three departments.

Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and support data and voice infrastructure, including local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), wireless, microwave and other network components.

Install, configure, and maintain networking equipment such as load balancers (Citrix, Barracuda), switches (Cisco) and routers (Cisco, Juniper).

Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.

Install, configure, and maintain Internet gateway security systems, such as firewall (Palo Alto), VPN concentrators, anti-virus, and anti-spam devices and services

Install, configure, and maintain network servers, such as file servers, print servers, DHCP, DNS, SQL servers, IIS servers, Exchange servers, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VMware vSphere, and Microsoft Hyper-V.

Install, configure, and maintain wide area network (WAN) using VPN, point to point and other network technologies.

Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation, maintaining documentation.

Configure and maintain active directory services, group policies, user accounts for staff and guests.

Maintain archive and backup systems for servers and storage systems (NetBackup, Veeam).

Configure and support Cisco phone system and IP phones.

Trouble-shoot issues with data network or voice systems in use by the company.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Network Administration or relevant field of study

  • At least 3 years of related experience

  • Aptitude to work on multiple assignments simultaneously including working under pressure to meet project and task deadlines

  • Experience leading or assisting with IT network implementations

  • Problem-solving skills combined with analytical skills to analyze data, perform research, and diagnose and solve problems

  • Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams, including with developers and subject matter experts

  • Ability to understand front-end users’ requirements and problem-solving attitude

  • Enthusiastic and committed attitude toward work and task completion

  • Flexibility for minimal travel to satellite offices within the City of Chicago

Ideally You'll Also Have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of storage are networks and technologies (NetApp filers)

  • Vendor certifications such as Cisco, CompTIA, or Microsoft
