This Senior Structural (Bridge) PE will serve in a lead technical role on bridge design projects and perform complex structural analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation (highway and rail) projects in local and international projects. This engineer may serve in the role of project manager for transportation projects and serve as a representative of Jacobs at meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects.
The successful candidate will possess knowledge and experience in:
Planning, analysis, design, plan preparation, specification development, bridge inspections, and report writing.
Must have strong background in structural engineering analysis and design, and have a proven background of technical leadership on structural transportation projects.
Should be active in technical societies and be available to attend meetings or events outside normal working hours.
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is Required.
MSCE or Masters of Structural Engineering preferred. A structural emphasis is preferred with coursework to include structural analysis, foundations, and design with structural steel, reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete materials.
Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience on various types of bridges, to include analysis, design and plan development of new and rehabilitation projects is required
Previously demonstrated project experience with Illinois Tollway, Chicago DOT, Class I Railroad, CTA and IDOT preferred
Illinois PE required and Illinois SE is preferred
Demonstrated proficient knowledge of SAP2000, CSiBridge, Larsa, Midas, Lusas or other structural design/analyses programs strongly desirable.
Must have a solid understanding of and practical experience applying the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications to transportation structures.
Bridge inspection experience and FHWA-NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges certification preferred
Rail Bridge experience is preferred
