As part of our Urban Mobility Solutions Team, you will have the chance to work on exciting and engaging transportation infrastructure projects in the Midwest and nationally utilizing your design experience. Our Chicago-based Urban Mobility Solutions Team challenges ourselves every day to find new solutions to complex, multi-modal transportation problems. We incorporate safety, equity, and usability into every step of our projects to keep our design at the cutting edge. We work with planners, urban designers, landscape architects, and engineers to find answers that work for all users.

Your knowledge will be used to support the transportation team. Through this assignment, you will be exposed to many different opportunities to grow your career at Jacobs. We look forward to you growing within our organization where you will have a voice. Typical duties will vary based on experience level but will include:

• Leads design tasks for transportation solutions for all users including bike facilities, pedestrian safety improvements, transit infrastructure, and vehicular infrastructure

• Leads development of plan sets for the construction of the above

• Applies expertise in Complete Streets design principles

• Applies federal, state, and local standards

• Work with clients and stakeholders to find innovative solutions to their issues

• Represents Jacobs at client meetings, public meetings, and professional organizations

Jacobs offers a flexible hybrid work environment with some work performed in the office and some from home. Employees are encouraged to coordinate with their Team to find the correct balance depending on work needs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation Focus)

• Three or more years of related experience in transportation work

• Professional Engineer license (PE) or Engineer In Training (EIT) with path to becoming a PE

• Previous public Department of Transportation (DOT), county, or municipal experience, preferably previous CDOT experience

• Strong MicroStation (or other CADD) background

• Strong analytical, conceptual, organizational, and communication skills

• Ability to deliver creative solutions to complex transportation challenges

Ideally, you’d also have:

• Experience with NACTO and other Complete Streets guides

• Experience with multi-discipline infrastructure engineering design and construction projects
