Seeking an Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technician III to support the Navy CTF Test Team at China Lake, CA.
The electrical engineering technician performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
This technician performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:
Constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions; Following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment. Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data; Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation.
Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum:1-5 years of experience working with mechanical, electrical, electronic components, shop equipment (outlined above), and/or test activities.
The successful candidate will be able to perform periodic maintenance on test and support equipment.
Be able to apply electrical and electronic theory and related knowledge, under the direction of electrical staff.
Be able to maintain, clean and organize equipment lockers, storage areas, workshops, and test areas.
Be able to provide support to other technicians, engineers, and support staff with the setup and operation of instrumentation, equipment and test articles used in CTF launch tests and support activities.
Able to communicate directly with engineers and other technicians to ensure a high level of technical support and perform other duties as assigned.
Current driver’s license, car registration and auto insurance required.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain an interim and a permanent U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance required.
Medium- Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
Generally an outdoor environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting).
Outside work may include various environmental conditions including hot and cold climates.
Needs to be able to work well with co-workers and all levels of management.
No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions.
Office is located on site in Government spaces at: Dugway Proving Ground, UT.
Equipment and Machines:
Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work related tools as required.
Regular hours will be between Monday-Thursday 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines.
Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.
Other Essential Functions:
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers.
Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others.
Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required.
Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects.
This may involve airline travel.
When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
This position will require a valid driver license to operate a variety of vehicles.
