Jr. Civil/Environmental Design Engineer


As a Civil / Environmental Engineer in the Cincinnati office, you’ll have the opportunity to support stormwater permitting and BMP design efforts, construction related permitting, and environmental impact analyses for power, water and transportation projects. You will contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams, working with engineers, scientists, project managers, and junior project staff, in all phases of the execution and delivery of projects. This position requires strong skills as a self-starter, with ability to participate on multiple projects simultaneously. If you’re up for the challenge, we’ve been looking for someone just like you. In this role, you will:

  • Assist with stormwater management evaluations and best management practice designs to manage storm water in a pre- and post-development condition.

  • Assist with civil design tasks related to site development, site remediation, environmental permitting, construction stormwater permitting, and/or stormwater drainage analysis.

  • Prepare design drawings, calculations, and specifications under a licensed engineer.

  • Interact with internal team members in the local office, as well as regional and firm-wide staff.


  • BA/BS degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or related engineering degree is required with related work experience listed below: 0 – 2 years of experience.

  • Relevant coursework in water resources fields

  • Possess strong writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.

Preferred (for candidates that have work experience):

  • Experience in environmental consulting.

  • Experience contributing to energy service area transmission and distribution infrastructure projects (i.e. permitting, design, and construction).

  • Experience with soil stabilization techniques, site remediation, civil design and storm water management evaluation.

  • Experience with engineering, design and permitting activities for energy and industrial projects.

  • Understanding of applicable clean water act and NPDES regulations

  • Experience with SWMM and HydraFlow.
