Construction Deputy Manager coordinates in the office with engineering director and project managers in order to keep high the focus on the project delivery. Improving safety and quality, working with HSE and Quality manager, defining new strategy and with a focus on continuous development of the construction team. Open to innovative ideas for new construction techniques and systems (i.e. use of BIM on the construction site: develop all the opportunities using 4D and 5D). Expedite the site in order to identify any weak and critical area and develop a proper improvement plan in order to keep high level in safety, quality, control and team building with all the team on site and the colleagues in the office. Work strictly with the Construction director managing and supporting all the activities listed below.

Additional activities:

  • Become a promoter of initiatives and of programs regarding to the health and safety in the workplace, collaborating closely with the Jacobs HSE department to minimize the risk of incidents to things or people on the construction sites, according to the principles and the ethics of Jacobs;

  • Collaborate with the Quality JI Department in the development and verification of specific procedures for the CM Department;

  • Actively participate in the periodical Operational Project Reviews (OPR), when the construction team is involved and in all the project review session on the project;

  • Develop the “Pre-construction Planning” activities on the projects during the different phase of the project development in order to support the design team and provide all the information for the site logistic

  • Support the PMs and the Project Schedulers in the development of general and detailed project plans (e.g. schedule and procedure mainly for construction, mechanical completion, testing and commissioning of the works);

  • Manage the personnel assigned to the construction sites in accordance with the HRE Discipline;

  • Participate, as far as it is concerned, in the preparation and verification of cost estimates for specific projects;

  • Collaborate or participate with the HSE and QA/QC department in the execution of safety and quality audits on construction sites;

  • Periodical visit on site for monitoring and expediting the performance of the site team and analyze the signals of problems coming from construction sites attributable to technical or management deficiencies, identify possible preventive or corrective actions and promote their implementation, involving, where

necessary, the designated company functions;

  • Act personally as Construction Manager for specific projects: in this case, although not expressly mentioned, refer to the responsibilities defined for the Construction Managers;

  • Support the Sales department in the preparation of the proposals, in the budgeting of the commitment and in the identification of the resources relating to the construction activities for the proposals that involve construction activities (proposals for CM, EPCM or PMCM services);

  • Qualify, budget, plan and verify the employment of the resources for the Construction activities, assigning to the projects a staff of their own Department or drawing them from other Departments/Disciplines, in agreement with their respective responsible;

  • Participate in possible meeting and training promoted by the European Construction Group.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 10+ years of experience as field Construction manager

  • 5+ years of experience as Home office Construction manager

  • Strong knowledge across all project disciplines will be required

  • Safety Management/Supervisor certification will be seen as an advantage

  • Ability to evaluate criticality in a project in order to evaluate the right construction management team (during JI bidding phase on a project)

  • Ability to evaluate criticality in a project in order to drive design (where it could be necessary) and manage a constructability review with Client and Contractors

  • Ability to run complex meetings with multiple constituents and follow-up on deliverables

  • Proficient computer skills (Office tools, 3D navigator – as Navisworks, schedule software – e.g. project)

  • Excellent listening, communication and organizational skills

  • Experience with systems mechanical completion, testing and commissioning

  • English: Italian language extremely fluent, good level
