Your Impact:

Jacobs is seeking a Juniper/Cisco Network Engineer (Infrastructure Support Group) to support the newly awarded NISSC II contract. Your career at Jacobs enables NISSC to fulfill its mission to “provide classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability in organizational work centers at NISSC sites.” As a member of our team, you will support corporate and customer mission to provide world-class IT services and support that connects systems and users across NORAD in the areas of software development/maintenance, network services, cyber security, systems administration, and other mission-critical areas.

This Network Engineer ISG will work side-by-side with very high-level, active duty personnel including senior officers, senior enlisted members, and highly experienced Government civilians, all from a wide variety of backgrounds, specialties, and assignments. Additionally, ISG Network Engineers will be exposed to and will gain valuable experience in multiple mission systems, networks, IT applications, and classified communication technologies.

Job Description

The Network Engineer ISG designs, implements, and provides daily operations, maintenance and sustainment of a variety of network communication infrastructure and systems. They will provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture; providing specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, as well as implement techniques and tools for the most efficient solutions to meet business needs including present and future capacity requirements.

Typical Duties Include:

  • Monitoring network performance and reporting status to Government and contractor leadership; maintaining technical expertise in all areas of networks, software interconnection, network interfacing, and networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and other network management appliances

  • Evaluating and reporting on new communications technologies to enhance CMSFS network capabilities and security

  • Maintaining and improving the already excellent relationship between Government leadership and the NISSC II contractor team

  • Serving as a NISSC II team Subject Matter Expert (SME) and advisor on all matters related to Network Infrastructure processes and mission systems status

Certification Requirements: DoD 8570 IAT II certification eligibility requirements (e.g., Security+ CE)

Experience Requirements:

  • Must have demonstrated minimum of (8) years of experience with providing support for network infrastructure operations, maintenance, sustainment, network project design and implementation

  • Must have demonstrated minimum of (8) years of experience with configuring, deploying, and managing Network Infrastructure devices including, but not limited to, Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Appliances within Local, Campus/Base, and Wide area networks of varying sizes and complexity and within “Multi-Vendor” hardware supported environments

  • Must have demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience with the administration of Juniper Network Operating System (JunOS) software; to include the configuration, deployment, and management of various Juniper Networks hardware platforms including, but not limited to, Juniper EX/QFX Series Switches, MX Series Routers, SRX Series Firewalls, and Network Management/Security Appliances

  • Must have demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience with the administration of Cisco Internetwork Operating System software (Cisco IOS/IOS-XE); to include the configuration, deployment, and management of various Cisco hardware platforms including, but not limited to, Cisco chassis multi-layer Core routing and switching platforms within a virtualized environment (VSS/StackWise), Cisco Access layer switches, ASA/Firepower Firewalls, and Access Control Appliances

  • Must have experience with the administration and management of various Layer 2 protocols and concepts; to include, but not limited to, Virtual Switching Systems (VSS), Virtual Chassis, Port Aggregation (Port-channel/Etherchannel), LACP, Spanning-Tree variances, 802.1q Trunking, VLANs, 802.1x authentication and port security mechanisms, MAC/ARP databases

  • Must have experience with the administration and management of various Layer 3 protocols and concepts; to include, but not limited to, static routing, Internal and External dynamic routing protocols (e.g., OSPF/BGP), Redundant Routing Protocols (HSRP/VRRP), Access Control Lists and Firewall Filter/Policy implementation

  • Must have experience with network access and authentication control systems, servers and appliances and protocols; to include Radius and TACACS+ Must have experience with the configuration, deployment, and administration of Network Monitoring, Diagnostic, and Analytic tools, to include Syslog collection servers, and utilization of SNMP based Network Management Systems (e.g, IPSwitch WhatsUP Gold, Solarwinds NPM Orion, or other) to monitor network performance and respond to network outages and anomalies

  • Must have experience with the management and utilization of Microsoft DHCP Servers, IP Address Management (IPAM), and working within components of the Microsoft Active Directory structure

  • Must have or be able to quickly obtain a current professional network administration certificate for Juniper and/or Cisco (e.g. JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCP, CCNA, CCNP)

  • Must be able to prepare, objectively review, and deliver technical presentations if/as required

Desired skills:

  • Previous experience with DoD and/or U.S. Air Force network administration and engineering of unclassified and classified networks, and interfacing with multiple DoD Agencies is highly desired

  • Previous experience with the management of Voice over IP (VoIP) systems; including the administration of communication servers or appliances, and IP Phones is a plus

Essential Functions

Work Environment

  • Work will be performed inside a large facility. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting).

  • Work assignments vary based on client requirements.

  • Work may include travel with the military to participate in exercises in austere conditions

  • Outside work may include various environmental conditions including hot, dusty, cold, icy, and windy climates.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.

  • May require climbing, working at heights, and in small confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets, and server racks. Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel or crouch for long periods of time. Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions. Lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds.

Equipment and Machines

  • General office equipment, which includes: telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

  • Servers, switches, routers, and other computer equipment that supports the network environment.

  • Operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and test equipment.

  • May require operating motor vehicles.

Attendance

  • Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is mandatory.

  • Shift Work is required to support operations. The candidate chosen for this position will work varying shifts

  • It is important to be able to work any shift/designated hours required.

  • You may be asked to continue performance in support of a war, contingency, or exercise

  • You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work

  • Position may require night and weekend work and could include travel with the military to participate in operations/exercises located in areas with field conditions

Travel

  • Continental and overseas travel may be required. It is important to maintain a current passport.

Other Essential Functions

  • Employment is contingent upon obtaining all required certifications within the timeframe specified in a waiver by the government (if applicable) and maintaining required certifications through the duration of the contract. Failure to obtain/maintain required certifications will result in disqualification for this position and could result in termination.

Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.   • Grooming and dress are usually business casual, but dependent on the client’s standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.

  • The position for which you are applying requires a US government security clearance. This is to advise you, that should you be extended an offer, if you possess a dual citizenship (i.e., a citizen of the US and another country), to be granted a clearance you will be required to relinquish your citizenship in the foreign country.

This position is expected to pay $70,000-$85,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
