Jacobs NORAD Operations Group (JNOG)

Selected by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Strategic Warning and Surveillance Systems Division for Operations, Maintenance, and Sustainment (OM&S) of critical mission systems for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyenne Mountain Complex (NCMC), we support the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II).

Since 2020, Jacobs, through the (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II), has provided:

  • Operations, maintenance, and Sustainment of current and legacy systems for the surveillance and cataloging of manmade objects in space.

  • Mitigation of orbital conflicts.

  • Threat warnings and control from airborne, land-based, and space-based systems for threat activities.

  • Operations and maintenance of classified communications.

  • Software development and integration.

NISSC II supports the classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability and legacy space C2 systems located at:

  • Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station (CMSFS), Colorado

  • Peterson Space Force Base (PSFB), Colorado

  • Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska

  • Vandenberg Space Force Base, California

  • Numerous sensor and forward operator sites around the world

Description of Duties:

The Network Analyst supports North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II). The candidate will:

  • Review and analyze system, trunk, circuit, and equipment performance.

  • Coordinate and assist in troubleshooting, isolating, repairing, and correcting network systems and circuit errors.

  • Create and update outage tickets and shift logs.

  • When necessary, brief leadership of circuit/equipment status.

  • Daily Crypto loads to equipment (i.e., KIV-7Ms, KIV-19Ms, KG-175s, KG-255s, etc.) and associated COMSEC paperwork. Handle COMSEC materials daily.

  • Analyze problems and conduct effective fault diagnosis and system recovery.

  • Understanding of electronics/network principles.

  • Provide 24/7 operations/maintenance support of network/transport and cryptographic equipment.

  • Route calls, transfer information, and handle administrative duties.

  • Complete various tasks such as typing, checking, and recording information.

Shift work could be required to support 24×7 operations. It is important to be available to work any shift/designated hours required including nights, weekends, and holidays on a modified Panama schedule, and can remain on-site for extended periods during emergencies and drills.*

This position reports to Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station.*

Here’s what you’ll need :

Basic Requirements:

  • Clearance Requirement – TS w/SCI eligibility.

  • Certification - DoD 8570 IAT II certification (e.g., Security CE).

  • 2 years of directly related experience.

  • Experience of the following technologies: OSI, TCP/IP, and various layer 2 protocols.

  • Experience in data center/long-haul transport mechanisms, serial data interfaces, cat-X ethernet, and fiber optic cabling.

  • Must be able to complete work that requires climbing, working at heights, and in small, confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets, and server racks.

  • Must be able to complete work that requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, or crouching for long periods.

  • Must be able to work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.

  • Must be able to complete work that requires lifting and transporting equipment up to 50 pounds.

Desired Requirements:

  • Juniper OS Certification.

  • Knowledge of platforms such as Radius and/or TACACS.

  • Experience with Linux/UNIX.

  • Experience with Juniper products including routers, switches, and Circuit to Packet (CTP) equipment.

  • Experience with Automated Ticketing Systems (i.e., Remedy).

  • Experience with digital data signal flow.

  • Experience with long-haul transport circuit/network/system drawings/records.

  • Experience with network transport equipment in a large Department of Defense Information Network Operations Center.

  • Experience using specialized test equipment (i.e., Oscilloscope, Protocol Analyzer, Bit Error Rate Test equipment, etc.)

  • Experience prioritizing and managing workloads.

  • Have clear written and verbal communication skills.

This position is expected to pay $60,000 - $75,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Communication

  • Position will require lifting and/or transporting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • There is a possibility that due to parking availability and the location of work, traveling moderate to long distances may be required.

Equipment and Machines

  • General office equipment, which includes telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

  • Servers, switches, routers, and other computer equipment that supports the network environment.

  • Operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and test equipment.

Attendance

  • Regular attendance following the established work schedule is mandatory.

  • It is important to be able to work any shift/designated hours required.

  • You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work.

  • You may be asked to continue performance in support of a war, contingency, or exercise.

Travel

  • Commuting between locations may be required daily (30-minute drive).

  • May require operating motor vehicles for commuting between locations.
