SMMS Shared Services Network Security Engineer NISSC II
Jacobs is seeking an SMMS Shared Svcs Network Security Engineer to support the newly awarded NISSC II contract. Your career at Jacobs enables NISSC to fulfill its mission to “provide classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability in organizational work centers at NISSC sites.” As a member of our team, you will support corporate and customer mission to provide world-class IT services and support that connects systems and users across NORAD in the areas of software development/maintenance, network services, cyber security, systems administration, and other mission-critical areas.
General Requirements: Coordinates and provides technical guidance and leadership to a group engaged in supporting technical computer system design and operations. Coordinates and reviews work of others for techniques, procedures, and technical approach. Reviews the building and/or debugging of hardware and software to identify and correct difficult problems using technically advanced, problem-solving skills. Develops, modifies, and maintains complex computer system procedures. Interprets and analyzes processing anomalies for computer systems and takes corrective action. Oversees all test and installation of network connections, configures and debugs network equipment. Prepares and critiques technical reports and memoranda. Assists management in defining computer system requirements and upgrades. Authorizes the selection of new computer equipment including hardware and software. Coordinates and schedules system upgrades and maintenance. Typically requires an AS degree in a computer field and 8 years of related experience. Progressive and relevant education, training, and/or certification(s) may be substituted for a portion of the degree and experience requirements.
Planning, engineering, and monitoring the security arrangements for the protection of the network systems. Identifying, monitoring, and defining the requirements of the overall security of the system. Creating different ways to solve the existing threats and security issues. Configuring and implementing intrusion detection systems and firewalls. Testing and checking the system for weaknesses in software and hardware. Maintaining firewalls, virtual private networks, web protocols, and email security. Creating virus and threat detection systems. Configuring and installing security infrastructure devices. Investigating intrusion and hacking incidents, collecting incident responses, and carrying out forensic investigations. Determining latest technologies and processes that improve the overall security of the system. Using industry-standard analysis criteria to test the security level of the firm. Developing tracking documents to note system vulnerabilities. Reporting the security analysis and monitoring findings. Supervising the configuration and installation of new software and hardware. Implementing regulatory systems in accordance with IT security. Informing the company about the security incidents as soon as possible. Modifying the technical, legal, and regulatory aspects of the system security. Defining and maintaining security policies. Occasionally replacing the security system protocol and architecture. Maintaining switches and servers. Attend and Participate in Periodic Large Scale Agile Planning events. Support standard Agile ritual meetings (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives) as necessary and assist Scrum teams in execution of Sprints.
Proven work experience as a network security engineer or information security engineer. Experience in creating and maintaining security systems. Thorough understanding of the latest technologies, security principles, and protocols. Complete command on dealing with security systems, intrusion detection systems, firewalls, anti-virus software, log management, authentication systems, content filtering, etc. Understanding of the web-related terminologies and software such as web applications, web related protocols, service-oriented architectures, and web services. Ability to work under pressure and stressful scenarios. Ability to communicate and report network security incidents and issues to the upper management. Ability to define and implement the results of malicious code, mobile code, and anti-virus software. Knowledge of computer forensic tools, data loss prevention methods, and disaster recovery methods. CCNP Security Certification (Cisco Certified Network Professional Security),
Experience working on NISSC II Products/Applications Network engineer certifications such as CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), and GIAC Security Certifications.
Physical Requirements: Most work will be done at a desk or computer.
Work Environment: General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.
Equipment and Machines: General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Attendance: Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
Other Essential Functions: Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check. Must be a US citizen.
Secret Clearance Required: Position requires a Secret security clearance, based on current background investigation (SBI), as well as the favorable completion of polygraph. Clearance processing will be completed by the U.S. Government.
