Mission Statement

Jacobs is seeking a Test Engineer to support the NISSC II contract. Your career at Jacobs enables NISSC to fulfill its mission to “provide classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability in organizational work centers at NISSC sites.” As a member of our team, you will support corporate and customer mission to provide world-class IT services and support that connects systems and users across NORAD in the areas of software development/maintenance, network services, cyber security, systems administration, and other mission-critical areas.

Job Description

The Test Engineer develops, maintains, and evaluates complex engineering computer systems. Performs coding, testing, installing, and maintaining engineering computer programs having features including the multiplicity of functions, critical constraints, and elaborate input/output. Develops computer program documentation and operational procedures. Prepares project resource estimates, schedules, and cost analyses. Provides diagnostic support to correct processing anomalies in complex computer programs. Assists in the preparation of specifications and other activities that require knowledge of programming principles and techniques. Interprets requirements and performs analyses to ensure that objectives are met. Assists in the training of less experienced personnel.

Typical Duties Include:

  • Develop automated test suites and reporting tools.

  • Develop test plans and procedures to ensure software meets agreed upon expectations.

  • Ensure test plans and procedures provide adequate test coverage for unit tests, automated tests, and functional tests.

  • Augment existing software to add touch points for automated tests.

  • Manage and execute automated/manual test suites.

  • Coordinate with engineers to identify issues.

  • Assist in drafting associated test artifacts and supporting government test events.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Required Clearance: Secret

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering, Science, Engineering or STEM related

  • Progressive relevant training and/or certification may be substituted for a portion of the education requirement

  • Required Certification(s): None but Security + is highly Desired

  • Required Minimum Years of Experience: 5 years

Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline and 7 years of experience in software engineering and/or test automation or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and certifications

  • Understanding of the different types and categories of software testing.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Groovy, Python, DOS, PowerShell, BASH)

  • Ability to apply a variety of tools and techniques to verify complex business processes via manual, automated, and semi-automated test cases.

  • Ability to write new test scripts for automation with input from team members

  • Strong communications skills

  • Participation in new design troubleshooting and providing recommendations to the rest of the team

  • Support development of test plans, test procedures, requirements traceability, test reports, test flow, and test case design and implementation

  • Document testing issues and failures and perform analysis of test results

  • Support formal systems acceptance testing activities

  • Present test strategies, plans, and results to internal and external customers

  • Support failure investigation activities

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working with Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker

  • Experience with VmWare products (vRealize Automation, etc.)

  • Experience with SQL commands and queries

  • Experience in Unit Test Development (nUnit, etc.)

  • Security+ Certification

This position is expected to pay $120,000 to $135,000 annually ; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

  • Work will be performed inside a large facility. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting).

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.

Equipment and Machines

  • General office equipment, which includes: telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

  • Servers, switches, routers and other computer equipment that supports the network environment.

  • Operating hand tools, power tools, ladders and test equipment.

  • May require operating motor vehicles.

Attendance

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is mandatory.

  • Employment is contingent upon obtaining all required certifications within the timeframe specified in a waiver by the government (if applicable) and maintaining required certifications through the duration of the contract. Failure to obtain/maintain required certifications will result in disqualification for this position and could result in termination.

  • Candidate must exhibit a professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military and contractor personnel at all levels.

  • Candidate must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Grooming and dress usually business casual, but dependent on client’s standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.

  • The position for which you are applying for requires a US government security clearance.
