Your Impact:

Description of Duties:

The Virtualization Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:

  • Assist in design, document, deploy and support MDA’s Cloud infrastructure.

  • Develop and maintain systems documentation, assist with proposal writing, diagrams, changes, and standard operation procedures for installations.

  • View and respond (as appropriate) to events reflected in the various management and monitoring tools.

  • Attend various meetings (crew/team, staff, change, configuration, etc.).

  • Participate in forward thinking activities and automating as much as feasible.

  • Perform administration of virtualization environments to include troubleshooting, break fix activities, the patching and remediation of servers, and system audit log reviews as required.

  • Coordinate efforts with other work centers and personnel to resolve Remedy Incidents related to systems and supporting infrastructure, troubleshooting any system errors or user issues, tracking resource utilization and performance of systems, and performing modifications and upgrades as needed.

Primary duty hours fall between 0700 (MT) and 1700 (MT) with periodic shift work (and on-call) required to assist with after-hours maintenance activities and occasional weekend coverage.

This position can be filled at Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs, CO or Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL.

This position is expected to pay $80,400 - $138,225 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 6 years of general experience; Associate's degree and 4 years of general experience; Bachelor's degree and 2 years of general experience.

• 4 years of experience as a systems administrator/engineer in a medium to large Enterprise environment supporting a variety of operating systems

• Understand cloud delivery models (IAAS, SAAS, PAAS)

• Experience with enterprise server operating systems / environments (i.e. RHEL 7 and/or 8; Windows Server 2016 and/or Windows 2019)

• Experience with Cloud Environments and platforms (Azure, AWS, OpenStack/OpenShift, VMwWare/Red Hat Virtualization)

• Experience with implementing CyberSecurity best practices

• DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II Certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE Certification or higher

• Active DoD Secret security clearance

• Must have, or obtain within 6 months of hire, a Red Hat Certification or Windows Server/Azure Certification

Desired Requirements:

• Current Red Hat certifications

• Current Windows Server certifications

• Experience with IT automation (Orchastration; scripting; etc.)

• Experience with Networking and Database Architectures

• Experience with RHEL Satellite and Ansible Tower, IdM Server, DNS, Active Directory and ACAS

• Experience with HPE server products such as HP c-Class Blade Systems, Virtual Connects, and HPE Synergy Hardware

• Experience with VMware administration

• Experience using Remedy software

• Experience supporting a DoD customer
