Jacobs is seeking an ICS/SCADA Security Engineer in Columbia, Maryland.

  • Design and secure operational technology networks across a range of industries

  • Solve complex digital and operational security problems facing Industrial Control Systems (ICS) used within the nation’s critical infrastructure cyber-landscape.

  • Assess the robustness of cybersecurity architectures, technologies, and procedures being implemented within organizational facilities, especially oriented toward cloud-based environments.

  • Design comprehensive technical solutions that meet client requirements and implement the appropriate software to mitigate critical security risks (e.g., system and mobile antivirus software, encryption modules, patch management programs, insider threat protection, incident response plans, forensic capabilities, and regulation compliance).

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and administrative audits on client computer systems and network devices considering the sensitivity of Operational Technology testing.

  • Lead collaboration efforts with other cybersecurity experts on team to develop well-constructed approaches to ICS risk management, mitigation, and monitoring strategies.

  • Provide training to organizational employees regarding protective ICS cybersecurity measures and the understanding of social engineering risks and tactics.

  • Responsible for securing systems running ICS-related communications protocols (e.g., MODBUS, DNP3, S7, etc.)

  • Engineers/develops middleware and scripts for Linux and/or Windows environments

  • Engineers security solutions for real-time and/or performance-sensitive systems

  • Applies whitelisting solutions in ICS environments

  • Conducts Independent Verification and Validation of competing solutions

  • Develops simulated ICS environments within a virtual infrastructure

  • Clearly communicate ideas, present, and explain technical knowledge to management and other stakeholders

  • Research and engineer new security solutions and write research papers, proposals and presentations

  • Up to 50% travel worldwide

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and eight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressive, relevant experience, or and MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system science discipline and two (2) to five (5) years or progressive experience

  • 10 years’ experience with cyber security technologies with at least 5 years serving critical infrastructure/industrial control systems (ICS) to include SCADA HCI systems, PLCs, RTUs, etc.)

  • Ability to apply skills across a broad range of domains to include Water, Oil and Gas, Energy, Building/Facility Management Systems and Smart Cities.

  • Working knowledge of system security design process, defense-in-depth/breadth, engineering life cycle, information domains, cross domain solutions, identification, authentication, and authorization, system integration, risk management, intrusion detection, contingency planning, incident handling, configuration control, change management, auditing, certification and accreditation process, principles of IA (confidentiality, integrity, non-repudiation, availability, access control), and security testing

  • Ability to research and engineer new security solutions and write research papers, proposals and presentations

  • Understands threat landscape of network-connected ICS technology

  • Strong technical writing skills.

  • Understands fundamentals of technical security risk assessment

  • Understands requirements engineering

  • Current Windows certification for Windows 7, 8, 10 and/or Server 2008/12 a plus

  • Desired Certifications: GICSP, CCNP, and/or CISSP, A , Netork , or Security
