Jacobs is seeking a Junior Network Engineer / Network Technician to support a contract in Fort Meade, MD. This position will require the ability to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance.
Duties and Responsibilities may include:
Develop cybersecurity test plans, test reports, implementation plans and evaluate deployment guidelines for the DoDIN Optical Transport Network (OTN) suite of equipment that includes Ciena/Coriant/Cisco and ATM/SONET-SDH/Ethernet (1/10/100 Gbps) Encryptor.
Perform Cybersecurity analysis and testing by applying the NIST SP800-53r4 RMF (Risk Management Framework) standards and DISA BTS STIG (Backbone Transport Services - Security Technical Implementation Guides)
Recommend new or revised security measures and countermeasures based on test results and analysis to harden prior deploying
Develop TTPs (Techniques and Procedures) and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and implementing automated information security test procedures. Providing Level-3 crypto support to troubleshoot and resolve any field cryptology issues as required
Conduct functional and interoperability tests to optimize data flow latency and maximize bandwidth utilization capability
Configure the crypto management system to validate connectivity and functionality in a DISA GIG lab
Work with multiple hardware vendors
Position duties require hands-on and practical knowledge of network engineering; equipment cutovers, cross-domain communication, information technology network management and/or network operation
Specialized duties include extensive hands-on and practical knowledge of network engineering; equipment cutovers, cross-domain communication, information technology network management and/or network operation
Conduct lab research to resolve technical problems and document product capabilities and limitations.
AS degree in information systems or computer science or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications.
Hands-on network experience
Knowledge of testing optical media and infrastructure with, power light meter, TDR and OTDR equipment
Experience configuring routing protocols and switching configuration in medium to large enterprise networks
Must be US Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance
8570 (Sec ) or to be taken within 60 days
CCENT/CCNA certification is a plus
Knowledge of testing both functional and performance evaluations of hardware and software to meet certification requirements.
Experience with Encryption Devices.
Possess ability to work with vendors to develop and/or propose product enhancements to meet validated requirements and shall communicate with product engineers and manufacturing groups to resolve problems in the field.
Prior hands on experience with Cisco networks.
Knowledge of Wide Area Network technologies.
Knowledge of Local Area Network technologies such as Ethernet as well as the physical media and equipment associated with each knowledge area
Knowledge of IP routing protocols and implementations
Most work will be done at a desk or computer.
General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.
Equipment & Machines:
Knowledge of general office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
