Your Impact:

Jacobs has a contingent opening for a Sr. Network Engineer with an active TS/SCI Polygraph in the Reston, VA area. Duties include:

  • Responsible for performing moderately complex network designs; performing upgrades to limited segments of the network and performing routine network operations and maintenance (O&M).

  • A proven track record and experience in working in an industry-leading operations organization.

  • A background in or exposure to software development such as scripting, automation, and SDLC would be beneficial.

Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Serve as network administrator by providing operating and maintenance support for network management system, which includes but not limited to system patching, test and evaluate new version of code, and Tier 3/4 support for various network management systems

  • Provide engineering support to enhance/upgrade current network management systems

  • Working closely with vendor for future software releases

  • Work with stakeholders to define constraints, develop requirements, create system requirement documents, engineering design package, and concept of operation (CONOPS) documentation

  • Attend customer Technical Exchange Meetings (TEM) to gather requirements

  • Responsible for performing technical evaluations, analysis, and troubleshooting for all supported servers (physical or virtual)

  • Collaborate closely with government leads

  • Track program level requirements and prioritization

  • Create internal and external documents and briefings

  • Track team action items from Senior Management office

  • Create design package for network engineering review board

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Current and active TS/SCI Poly required

  • Requires a solid foundation in networking including routing, switching, security and load balancing.

  • Must be able to demonstrate working in an operational environment where priorities change frequently

  • Requires six (6) years of experience specific to skill

  • Education and relevant certifications may be substituted for years of experience. For example, candidates with an Associate’s degree equals 18 months of experience; Bachelor’s degree equals 3 years of experience; Master’s degree equals 5 years of experience; Doctorate equals 7 years of experience

  • Relevant certifications will be considered equivalent to three (months) of specialized experience

Desired Requirements

  • CCNA, CCNP, CISSP or JNCIA

  • Background in or exposure to software development such as scripting, automation, and SDLC would be beneficial.

  • Experience or familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform, CloudFormation, JSON, etc.)

  • Systems administration experience

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements:

Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

Work Environment:

General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

Attendance:

Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.

Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing. Must be well-organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Must be willing to travel as needed. Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check. Must be a US citizen.
