Jacobs Security Engineer- TS/SCI in Columbia, Maryland

Responsibilities:

The Security Engineer is a ‘hands-on’ technical engineering position with the opportunity to design, build, implement, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise IT infrastructure. This includes server administration, virtualization, performance tuning, backup and restore, and storage. The security engineer leads in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure and ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values. Upgrade systems by implementing and maintaining security controls, strengthening the overall security posture of the enterprise IT systems. Apply Linux and Windows OS patches, third party software updates, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities on a regular basis. Configure / add new security tools and services as necessary. Design, build, configure, and maintain security tools used for hardening endpoints such as Ivanti, WSUS, Trellix, and Tenable. Performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Analyze, diagnose and determine root cause of issues, test, communicate, and either resolve or escalate for resolution appropriately. Evaluate and recommend tools and products for enterprise IT systems. Designs, develops and implements security requirements within an organization’s business processes. Prepares and maintains documentation to support SSPs and other RMF related requirements. Recommends and implements system enhancements to improve security deficiencies. Secures system configurations and installs security tools, scans systems in order to determine compliancy and report results and evaluates products and various aspects of system administration. Provides assistance in computer incident investigations. Performs vulnerability assessments including development of risk mitigation strategies.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Active TS/SCI

  • 4 years of experience in building, designing, and configuring IT system security on network enterprise environments

  • Strong knowledge and experience with building and maintaining security infrastructure

  • Experience upgrading IT systems by implementing security controls on Linux and Windows Operating systems, third party software updates, and upgrading administrative tools and utilities

  • Experience working with security tools such as Ivanti, WSUS, Trellix, Tenable or equivalent

  • Required IAT Certs: one or more of the following: CASP , CISSP, or equivalent

  • Required Vendor Cert: Microsoft, VMWare, Cisco, Netapp, Pure Storage, HP, Dell, Linux , RedHat, HBSS, ACAS. If not currently achieved, then must achieve within 6 months of hire

Preferred:

  • Experience working within a SOC

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Prior Military Experience
