Job Description (describe the day-to-day):

Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of specific components of complex hardware/software systems. This includes requirements elicitation, analysis and functional allocation, conducting systems requirements reviews, developing concepts of operation and interface standards.

  • Assist with the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components. Coordinate the resolution of action items from design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews that require cross-discipline coordination.

  • Analyze user's requirements, RFP documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications, Bills of Materials and implement technologies to achieve RFP requirements.

  • Relevant experience in building VMWare/Hyper Converged Infrastructure environment from start to finish.

  • Implement the latest VMWare Horizon VDI with diverse Guest operating systems.

  • Experience provisioning encrypted data at rest and data in transit requirements to include but not limited to, supporting Encrypted File System and Bitlocker

  • Architect system logs and analyzing through tools like Splunk and VMware vRealize Log Insight.

  • Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day support of server, app, or desktop virtualization

  • Participate in an Integrated Product Team to design new capabilities based upon evaluation of all necessary development and operational considerations.

  • Partner with cross-functional peers to make informed strategic/big-picture decisions

  • Provide break/fix support to virtualized infrastructure across the enterprise

  • Work with Network Team to plan, install and configure new hardware and software for enterprise solutions

  • Respond and resolve service outages and interruptions; Troubleshoot any reported problems; Multi-site System performance tuning

  • Contribute to design of server systems including but not limited to technical architecture, stability, and platforms

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation diagrams of the enterprise server infrastructure and communications flow and routing

  • Perform proactive support functions and reporting to maintain the integrity of the enterprise virtual environment and business function

  • Interact with vendors in the resolution of complex problems

  • Work with ticket queue to track support issues

  • Available to provide after-hours/on-call support

  • Willing and available up to travel 5% to support new implementations

  • Ensure team maintains awareness of new technological developments in industry and processes- present new concepts appropriately and champion successful implementation

  • Ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience as a Windows System Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required. Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university. In lieu of degree, additional work experience and/or certifications is acceptable.

  • Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required

  • Active, in-scope US Government issued Top Secret w/SSBI clearance is required with a FS MPO Polygraph

  • Know how to size, build, and field a VMWare HCI environment from scratch.

  • Know how to build and implement VMWare Horizon 7 VDI with Windows 10 desktops.

Desired Requirements (nice to have but not required, ex. Education):

  • Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in development/ implementation of SE processes and procedures.

  • Experience with Confluence / JIRA managing Systems Engineering Projects.

  • Certifications: MCSA (associate) or MCSE (expert) VMWare VCA or VCP or VCDX, Azure

  • Strong understanding of the technology as well as hands on experience deploying VMware NSX

  • Diverse knowledge of Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Scientific Linux) and be able to build, configure, and maintain via Command Line Interface (CLI)

  • Understanding of information security practices (cryptography, privilege separation, RBAC, INFOSEC, Auditing, patching, Security Benchmark Compliance, OS hardening, etc)

Physical Requirements:

Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

Work Environment:

General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves short deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers. Must be comfortable in taking and giving direction to others based on organization role.

Equipment & Machines:

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

Attendance:

Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

Other Essential Functions:

Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing. Must be well-organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Must be willing to travel as needed. Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check. Must be a US citizen.
