PERFORM STRUCTURE TYPE STUDIES, INVESTIGATION OF BRIDGE ALTERNATIVES, BRIDGE REHABILITATION TASKS. PREPARATION OF BRIDGE DESIGN PACKAGES, AND PLAN PRODUCTION RELATED TO BRIDGE AND OTHER TRANSPORATION STRUCTURES PER RELEVANT DESIGN STANDARDS. COORDINATE VARIOUS INTERDISCIPLINARY COMPONENTS OF BRIDGES TO PREPARE BASEMAPS AND PHASED CONSTRUCTION DETAILED EXHIBITS FOR BRIDGE REPORTS. PERFORM BASIC, MODERATE, AND COMPLEX STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS FOR PRESTRESSED CONCRETE AND STEEL BRIDGE COMPONENTS, INCLUDING BRIDGE BEAMS, ABUTMENTS, PIER COLUMNS, FOOTINGS, WINGWALLS, CROSSFRAMES ETC, PER THE RELEVANT DESIGN STANDARDS AND EFFICIENT COMPUTER-BASED TOOLS. PERFORM SEISMIC RETROFIT CALCULATIONS FOR CONNECTIONS AND SUBSTRUCTURE DUCTILITY FOR BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROJECTS. PERFORM LOAD RATING CACLULATIONS OF BRIDGES PER REGULATORY STANDARDS AND INDUSTRY TOOLS/SOFTWARE. PERFORM ANALYSIS OF COMPLEX SKEWED PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BRIDGES AND CURVED STEEL BRIDGES (3D FEM ANALYSIS) USING AASHTOWARE BRR PER AASHTO LRFR PROCEDURES. PERFORM REVIEW/CHECKS OF THE LOAD RATING CALCULATIONS BY OTHERS. CREATE COMPUTER MODELS FOR BRIDGES, USING RECORD PLANS AND INSPECTION/ASSESSMENT REPORTS, AND PERFORM ANALYSIS CONFORMING TO AASHTO LRFD AND ODOT BRIDGE DESIGN MANUAL. PERFORM DESIGN CALCULATIONS OF VARIOUS TRANSPORTATION STRUCTURES, INCLUDING RETAINING WALLS AND TRAFFIC SIGNALS LIGHT POLES, PER THE RELEVANT DESIGN GUIDES. COORDINATE WITH OTHER BRIDGE ENGINEERS AND PROJECT MANAGERS TO MEET BUDGET, GOALS, AND DEADLINES AND COMPLETE QUALITY CONTROL CHECKS. COLLABORATE WITH TEAMS OF PROFESSIONALS FROM MULTIPLE DISCIPLINES, INCLUDING PLANNING, ROADWAY, DRAINAGE, OR RAILWAY, TO RESOLVE TECHNICAL QUESTIONS RELATED TO SCOPE AND DESIGN. PROVIDE TECHNICAL GUIDANCE TO MORE JUNIOR STAFF, AND COORDINATE AND PERFORM QUALITY REVIEWS OF WORK BY OTHERS.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering and 5 years of work experience in bridge engineer occupation. Or:

Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering and 3 years of work experience in bridge engineer occupation.

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

Expertise/ knowledge of:

  1. Bridge Design/Engineering

  2. LRFD design Code

  3. MicroStation

  4. Experience in AASHTO LRFD, Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) bridge design requirements

  5. Knowledge of SAP2000, CSI Bridge, LEAP Design Suite, MDX, and Midas Civil, LARSA 4D .

  6. Ability to read, interpret, and prepare shop and design drawings.

  7. Experience creating design plans and performing bridge calculations conforming to current design guides including AASHTO LRFD, Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Bridge Design Manual (BDM)

  8. Experience in coordinating multiple engineering disciplines including planning, roadway & drainage, and railway to resolve project questions related to scope, schedule, and budget constraints

  9. Experience in structural analysis and load rating calculations for bridge beams including reinforced concrete deck girders, channel beams, crossbeams and bents, steel girders and floor-beams, pins, and arches and coordinating with others for quality control checks

  10. Experience in performing modeling of bridge components conforming to Client LRFR Manuals and AASHTO LRFD, utilizing computer aids including BRASS-GIRDER or Concrete Bridge Generator, or BRASS Moment Analyzer

  11. Experience in performing detailed load rating and analysis of various bridges per AASHTO STD Specifications and AASHTO LRFD, utilizing computer aids such as AASHTO BrR.
