We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Structural Technician to complement our multi discipline Design and Building Surveying Team based in Barrow-in-Furness and supporting our main client, BAE Systems Submarine Division.
Jacobs Mission Solutions offer a diverse range of services including civil and structural engineering, mechanical and electrical building services, mechanical handling, systems engineering, and project and programme management. Our core civil and structural engineering business is provides design and management services supporting nuclear and defence clients. This includes supporting the UK submarine fleet, designing key facilities at, Faslane and Barrow-in-Furness, and providing design services for the Atomic Weapons Establishment. Jacobs also supports both existing and new build nuclear power stations and offer structural design, analysis, seismic and blast engineering services for conventional power facilities, petrochemical, oil and gas industries, the gas distribution industry, airports, and other large scale industrial clients.
We are looking to recruit high calibre staff to support our technical delivery capability to meet opportunities in the nuclear and defence industries.
The successful candidate will be ambitious and driven with an in-depth knowledge of construction, structural engineering and preparing structural calculations. The project will involve taking responsibility of small projects to support the project manager in delivering the requirements to the end client.
Your responsibilities will include:

Management of small scale consultancy projects
Measured surveys and related drawings
Preparation of structural calculations
Preparation of design and construction drawings
Preparation of specification notes on drawings.
Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Ansys, Tedds would be an advantage.
An understanding of current Building Regulations
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a structural engineering practice in similar role.
Suitable qualifications would include:
OND/HND in Structural Engineering
Level 3/4 Advanced Professional Certificate in Construction
Be enthusiastic and willing to learn
Highly motivated and organised
Proficient in AutoCAD (or other drawing packages)
Good communication skills
Conversant with MS word and excel
Preferable experience working with commercial / manufacturing type buildings.
Full UK driving licence (preferred).
