Our team is experiencing exciting growth within our established practice, and we have a need for a new Mid-Level Highway Inspector to join our Independent Engineer team at the North Tarrant Express Capacity Improvements project. In this role, you will audit construction methods and workmanship to ensure that the developer builds roadways, bridges, traffic signals and related highway structures in accordance with the Comprehensive Development Agreement (CDA), Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) and the Owner Verification Testing and Inspection Plan (OVTIP). You’ll perform work related to transportation engineering activities such as construction record-keeping, audits of developer’s construction operations and testing, and traffic control inspection. You’ll also perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the Project Manager.

In this role you’ll also:

· Observe, audit, and document ongoing construction work

· Verify developer QC/QA procedures are following their QAP

· Records and reports observations including video and digital pictures and document daily activities by the contractor

· Verify Traffic Control Plans (TCP) are implemented appropriately and document lane closure hours

· Verify QC and QA is performing laboratory sampling according to the TxDOT Guide Schedule

· Support Jacobs Owner Verification Testing (OVT) program. Review daily inspection schedules and verify testing is coordinated between OVT and QC/QA

· Document and report all unusual issues to the Project Manager

· Performs other job responsibilities as assigned

Here’s what you’ll need :

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· At least 5 years of experience in construction inspection for transportation projects

· Required to have and maintain a satisfactory driving record

· Ability to move up to 50 pounds

· Ability to follow instructions and deal effectively with the developer’s team

· Ability to read and interpret roadway, structure, and bridge plans and specifications

· Knowledge of construction material, methods, plans and specifications

· Required to work night shifts and/or flexible schedules including weekends as required to support the project

· Work under exposure to inclement weather conditions

· Ability to use computers and applicable programs

· Promotes and maintains a safe working environment

Ideally, you’ll also have:

· Experience working on a TxDOT Design-Build project

· Experience with local, State and federal project guidelines

· Experience as or with an OVTI inspector

· Previous experience as a mid-level inspector
