Position Summary

Jacobs Engineering Group – North Texas Transportation Group is seeking to hire a senior level Rail Drainage Engineer – Corridor Drainage Design Manager with more than seven (7) years of experience to lead the drainage design PS&E efforts on the Cotton Belt Regional Rail Design-Build Project. Work at this level requires the ability to work in a team, collaborative, and fast paced design-build project delivery environment.

  • Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical leadership and oversight for drainage design aspects in a multidiscipline fast track design-build rail project.

  • Identification of solutions for a variety of engineering and drainage design challenges.

  • Manage drainage design PS&E design-build packages.

  • Assigns tasks and provides guidance to drainage design team members, and coordinates QC reviews for project deliverables.

  • Makes decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as well as decisions on technical direction on the project as needed or requested.

  • Conduct schematic, PS&E design development and contract document work sessions at project site in conjunction with all disciplines.

  • Participate in design review and coordination meetings.

  • Work with the design-build contractor to ensure project schedules are met.

  • Must thoroughly understand and implement the JACOBS Quality Management Systems requirements, processes, and procedures.

  • Coordinates and communicates with project manager, segment area leads and other discipline task leads in the project.

  • Performs other duties assigned by the Dallas Transportation Drainage Discipline Lead and the NTX Roadway Group Lead as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required from a U.S. ABET accredited school or equivalent is required

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a U.S. ABET accredited school is preferred

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas or the ability to obtain the license within six (6) of the hiring date.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in drainage design working on large-scale roadway and rail projects is required.

  • Previous experience working on alternative delivery (Design-Build and PPP) transportation projects in excess of $250M is preferred.

  • Experience with MicroStation, InRail, Geopak, SUDA and Civil 3D storm drain system analysis is essential.

  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling programs: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XP-SWMM, etc. is essential.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate all drainage design phases of a project with other team disciplines.
