Jacobs is the world’s top supplier of automotive test facilities, providing a full range of services to commercial automotive industry customers . Customers include not only the world’s major vehicle providers and other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), but also clients from the international motor sports community.

Jacobs is seeking a full time Automotive Body Lab Test Tech to work in the Dearborn, MI facility.

THIS JOB INCLUDES A $750. SIGNING BONUS

BRIEF OUTLINE OF SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Shift is Friday - Monday, 10 hours per day in the afternoons . Training will be on weekday afternoons for a couple months. You will receive a pay differential for this shift.

  • Store test parts and supporting hardware/fixtures prior to test

  • Retrieve test parts to support build up and test conduct

  • Ship, store and/or dispose of tested parts and fixtures post-test per test instructions

  • Update test status through database and communicate to lab leads and engineers

  • Maintain all work area documentation including note logs, check sheets, sample inventory and fixtures

  • Follow all SOP's associated with tasks as well as EH&S

  • Responsible for new procedural information sent out as new programs are brought into the Lab

  • Maintain specific Lab supplies

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND /OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma required

  • Two-year degree in Automotive Technology or similar preferred

  • Two years’ experience in a related field preferred.

  • Mid-level knowledge of Microsoft Office with a focus in Excel

  • Ability to conduct test sample prep and installation/removal

  • Ability to design, fabricate, track, locate and mount customized test fixtures as needed

  • Ability to run standard tests and support test engineers for one-off testing in a lab environment

  • Self-starter, highly motivated, strong team player with a positive attitude

Criticality of Attendance

  • Overtime, regular days, off days: 10 hours per day Friday-Monday regular time with occasional over time. May need to flex time to cover weekday testing.

  • Shift, 1st, 2nd, 3rd: Afternoon shift- (4) 10 hours shifts- Weekends. Training will be on days.

  • Necessity for regular attendance: Critical, 100%

  • Urgency for punctuality: Critical, 100%

  • Work hours are normally 10 hours per day and 4 days per week, Friday-Monday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary.

Other Essential Functions

  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, health performance evaluation, PMHV physical, and background check.

  • Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers.

  • Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to self or others.

  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.

  • Dependable personal transportation to work site is required.
