BRIEF OUTLINE OF SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Reference a Project Function Job Description if applicable.):

  • Employee must keep up with daily schedule – meet or exceed test demands of crash test dummy requests.

  • Assemble crash test dummies to meet custom component build levels and instrumentation requests for full vehicle crash and component level testing.

  • Disassemble dummies after testing to perform post-test assessment and calibration. Perform repairs and/or replace dummy parts and/or instrumentation when necessary.

  • Support daily pre-test dummy positioning to meet various test positioning protocols.

  • Review post-test data anomalies and investigate/troubleshoot root cause of the problem.

  • Conduct inter-department pick up/delivery of crash test dummies and instrumentation.

  • Maintain inventory of crash test dummy instrumentation – promptly repair broken instrumentation, send due-cal instrumentation out for calibration, and monitor spare instrumentation inventory to keep within 1-year calibration cycle.

  • Coordinate RMA process for equipment to be outsourced for calibration and/or repair – maintain good tracking documentation.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


  • High School Diploma

  • Self-starter, highly motivated, strong team player with a positive attitude.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

  • Strong mechanical aptitude – comfortable in product assembly/disassembly with basic hand tools, diligent in documenting processes, and proficient troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong electrical aptitude – knowledge of basic AC and DC electricity, proficient with a DMM, and electrical repair skills such as soldering, desoldering, splicing, and reading basic schematics.

  • Testing experience in some electromechanically related capacity (i.e. Auto Mechanic, Electrical Repair, Service Technician, etc.).


  • Associate degree in Automotive Technology, studying for an engineering degree, and/or experience in a crash/safety test facility.

  • Experience with instrumentation used in crash safety testing (i.e. load cells, potentiometers, accelerometers, etc.), familiarity with equipment used to troubleshoot them, and capability of performing basic repairs.

  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems (i.e. Crash Designer, AutoLab, SPRITE, DTS-TDAS, etc.) and data entry/management applications (DIAdem, Dummy Object, ELMS, ATD Management, etc.).

  • Personal vehicle for travel to and from work location

  • Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary. Must have flexibility of work days to cover weekend testing requirements.Other Essential Functions:Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, health performance evaluation, PHMV exam and background check.Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to self or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Dependable personal transportation to work site is required.
