Architectural Project Manager

Our Denver office features a close knit energetic architectural studio that continues to grow. This position will require the ability to multi-task and successfully execute across the wide spectrum of tasks and disciplines. Candidate must think outside the box and bring an innovative and collaborative approach. Candidate will work with team members located in other offices and respond well to mentoring as appropriate to the level of the position.Working closely with Project Architects, Design, Technical and Business Managers, this role will work closely with architectural design and technical leadership as well as engineering discipline project leads to manage the design, development, documentation, observation, and construction administration for a myriad of buildings project types. Work location is flexible (between downtown and Englewood office).

Reporting to the Buildings Delivery Leader selected candidate's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Securing, assigning and maintaining a project team containing all the resources required to successfully deliver projects while maintaining quality.

  • Leading and mentoring project team members and thereby creating a positive team working environment

  • Identifying and assessing risks and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies

  • Implementing and maintaining effective communication to the project team and all stakeholders to ensure full understanding and commitment to the agreed to deliverables

  • Controlling scope and cost to the agreed project baseline

  • Ensuring the obligations of the agreement between Client and the Company are fulfilled

  • Developing and monitoring financial and project delivery schedules, including change management.

  • “Seller-Doer” - Developing and maintaining internal and external client networks and serving as a primary contributor during client meetings and presentations

  • Representing Jacobs in a positive manner at meetings, presentations and in public

  • Participating in directing growth and strategic planning as part of the team

  • Initiating, preparing and reviewing proposals and participating in interviews in response to RFPs and RFQs

  • Developing and delivering presentations


  • Professional Degree in Architecture from an accredited University is required

  • Registration as an Architect is required

  • 7 years of experience in vertical buildings programs is required

  • A minimum of 5 years of management involving direct client contact and full responsibility for projects is required

  • Specific project experience in Aviation, Municipal, Higher Ed, or Healthcare programs preferred

  • Must have strong leadership abilities, and good social, networking, organization, communication (both verbal and written), people and presentation skills

  • Proven leadership record in the industry

  • Ability to strategize and direct business growth and direction

  • Forward thinking and ability to articulate clear vision and understanding of trends in the vertical space

  • Demonstrable experience of managing projects throughout the full project lifecycle

  • Experience managing estimating, cost control, planning and commercial awareness including the preparation of business cases

  • Experience dealing with a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders

  • Must be a strong conflict manager with a firm and assertive approach but take the analytical approach with a high-level problem-solving ability and a “can-do” attitude

  • LEED accreditation a plus
