Our team is experiencing exciting growth within our established practice and we have a need for a new Sr. Permit Coordinator to join our team in our Doral, FL office.
Performs field inspections of permit projects and maintenance contracts.
Verifies status of work for compliance with approved plans and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) standards and specifications, policies and procedures.
Provides technical assistance and information regarding FDOT requirements to engineers and contractors.
Is responsible for monitoring and coordinating maintenance contracts and all related documents
Assists with the review of engineering plans and specifications.
Gathers data and performs preliminary reviews for maintenance contracts or permits and checks plans for compliance with FDOT standards and specifications, policies and procedures.
Assists with preparing maintenance contracts and computes quantities of materials and reviews for accuracy. Attends pre-work conferences or other meetings as
Enters necessary data for contracts into department computer system.
Prepares records and reports and other related documents for work that is complete, accurate and submitted in a timely manner or by procedural deadlines.
Responds to questions and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
At least 5 years of experience in construction inspection for transportation projects is required
Experience with inspection and/or oversight of a wide variety of construction, maintenance, and permit related projects are highly desired with at least 3 years of relevant experience; HS or GED or equivalent experience
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight by Jacobs supervisory staff
Ability to understand and adhere to the role as a Consultant in a client’s office
Knowledge of general engineering concepts, terminology and principles;
Ability to interpret engineering data, plans and specifications for complex roadway and bridge construction projects
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
Skill in the operation of personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets and electronic mail; skill in effective oral and written communication, public speaking presentations and training;
Ability to work with internal and external customers in a courteous and tactful manner
Skill in inspecting worksites for compliance to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) roadway standards
Ability to perform field inspections and evaluations
Skill in the construction, inspection and maintenance of roads and bridges
Ability to communicate technical information verbally and in writing, using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation
Skill in rearranging resources and work documents to meet deadlines
Skill in organizing records and handling multiple tasks and interrptions
Ability to establish positive and productive relationships with the contractors, client and other related entities encountered during construction
Ability to solve problems arising during construction to the satisfaction of all parties and to do so in a timely manner
Ability to run lane closure analysis
Ability to interpret design standards and specifications
Ability to interpret FDOT policies and procedures
Current FDOT CTQP qualifications are preferred
Promotes and maintains a safe working environment
Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
