About the opportunity

The Ireland Transportation sector includes a portfolio of high-profile projects with clients that include Transport Infrastructure Ireland, National Transport Authority, Irish Rail, national and regional contractors and several significant Local Authorities.

We currently have opportunities within our Civil Engineering teams in Dublin and Cork for you to make your mark and influence the continuing growth of Jacobs as part of the design team. Some of our recent nationally and regionally significant projects include:

Recent and current projects include

  • Dunkettle Interchange,

  • Foynes to Limerick Road (including Adare Bypass),

  • M28 Cork to Ringaskiddy,

  • Dublin BusConnects – Core Bus Corridor Infrastructure Works and Cork BusConnects,

  • N2 Ardee to Castleblayney,

  • Dublin City Council Active Travel Team,

  • N21 Newcastle West and N21 Abbeyfeale,

  • N59 Maam Cross and N69 Listowel Bypass,

  • Dublin MetroLink and Cork Light Rail Transit.

You will be part of a team of engineers and technicians working on a variety of different projects. As part of the design team you shall assist in the preparation of feasibility studies, scheme reports, preliminary and detailed design for highways and active travel projects throughout the UK and Ireland.

You may be required to attend progress meetings and public exhibitions.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Degree in Civil Engineering and you should be nearing Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.

  • Understanding of TII Publications, UK DMRB

  • Experience in the design of Major Highway, Local Road or Active Travel schemes.

  • Confident with proven interpersonal and communication skills and capable of managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice.

  • Experience of 3D Civils would be an advantage.

  • Basic knowledge of project management, contractual issues and Experience of construction supervision.

  • Understanding of H&S legislation

  • Awareness of different contract types and procurement options.
