Your Impact:

The Jacobs Power and Energy team is playing a central role in Energy transition providing a range of services to our Energy clients including strategic studies and advisory services, feasibility studies, project development, system design, asset engineering and planning of future power systems. Our team has a strong focus on innovation and supporting industries and organisations driving the decarbonisation of our energy systems.

We wish to appoint an Operational Lead to manage our growing Power & Energy team in Ireland focusing on our core clients, while exploring new clients as the Energy Transition builds momentum. Our business in Ireland, with offices in Dublin, Cork and Belfast, boasts an extensive portfolio of high-profile major infrastructure projects and programmes and long-term multidisciplinary frameworks. We are currently expanding our Power and Energy team in Ireland with a unique opportunity for the right individual to lead and drive this approach.

The role will focus on growing our workload in Ireland centred around future markets and system operation, transmission and distribution planning, design and delivery, providing advisory services, power system studies, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed design. Clients across the UK and Ireland include transmission and distribution operators (EirGrid and ESB), renewable generation developers, energy storage developers (long, medium and short duration), advanced facilities, mission critical facilities, interconnectors and adjacent sector clients (water, rail, local authorities, highways, etc.). The candidate needs to be strong technically and can utilise their skills to drive growth in our business and our people.

This role can be based in any of our Irish offices, however we will require the flexibility to work across all our offices and client locations.

The role

As a senior member of our team you’ll be providing an overview of a range of services including advisory, feasibility studies, development of projects, power system design, network engineering and engineering of assets.

You will also be required to take on operational responsibility for a growing team of Power and Energy professionals within our Irish business with overall responsibility for utilisation, overhead spend, growth and development. While your reporting structure will be through our UK Power & Energy team, you will be supported in this by our well-established teams in Ireland. You will also provide Project Design Management and Design Engineering for the full range of EHV and HV design activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • The day-to-day operational management and coordination of the Power & Energy team.

  • Supporting the growth of the team through input to the Growth Strategy and actively recruiting new talent into the team.

  • Project and programme delivery including commercial performance in line with expectations.

  • Ensuring services and solutions meet the client’s scoping requirements and compliance with their technical requirements.

  • Conducting reviews, quality assurance checks and approval of design drawings, reports.

  • Actively promote a safe, fair, and collaborative work environment across the team.

  • Acting as main point of contact with clients on projects and Frameworks.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Minimum of an accredited Honours Degree and/or Masters in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • Chartered membership of Engineer’s Ireland, IEE, IET or similar Engineering Institution

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Proven experience of budget management, financial performance and familiar with current industry best practice.

  • Proven experience of managing and growing multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Proven technical ability in the strategic development of power systems.

  • Proven track record at delivering consultancy and innovative solutions
