We currently have opportunities for a Principal / Senior Principal Engineer with water/wastewater engineering experience to join our Utilities team, based in our Dublin Office. Working on projects throughout Ireland and the UK, your responsibilities may include:

  • Responsibility for the delivery of a wide range of engineering deliverables and projects at various stages in the project life cycles, while ensuring technical excellence and best practice to specification.

  • Undertaking checking of design deliverables/outputs.

  • Setting & maintaining standards for technical quality ensuring designs meet Client specification.

  • Leading multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver projects within agreed scope, timeframes and budgets.

  • Providing leadership to the Project Team in all Project phases to ensure effective Team development and performance.

  • Working to drive Health and Safety and overall project quality objectives.

  • Ensuring project financial performance within the agreed project budget including monthly cost forecasting and earned value assessments.

  • Communicating and liaising effectively with colleagues, contracting engineers, subcontractors, sub-consultants and clients.

  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with the other Jacobs discipline leads on projects.

  • Supervising and visiting contractors on site and advising on engineering issues.

  • Leading or supporting tendering procedures and putting together proposals.

  • Providing technical guidance and support and mentoring to less experienced project managers, engineers or technicians.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Minimum of an accredited Honours Civil Engineering Degree (NFQ Level 8).

  • Chartered Engineer.

  • Experience in the utilities engineering industry.

  • Experience of budget management, financial performance and familiar with current industry best practice.

  • Experience of leading, or be able to demonstrate potential to do so, a successful team of engineers.

  • Proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with client and other project team members.

  • Excellent communication skills, including written work.

Desirable

  • Experience in the design or management of water or wastewater schemes; clean water and sewage transfer systems and pumping systems.

  • Working knowledge of contract types and procurement options.

  • Experience with construction management and/or the site supervision of a contractor during construction.

  • Experience of budget management, financial performance and familiar with current industry best practice.

  • Experience of leading, or be able to demonstrate potential to do so, a successful team of engineers.
