About the Opportunity

As a Senior Sustainability Engineer, you will be a key member of the Sustainability Life Sciences Ireland team with responsibility for management of key projects in response to Jacobs and our Clients sustainability goals (environmental, social and governance). You will also aid the management team in researching and implementing best-in-class sustainability initiatives.

In this role you will report directly to the Sustainability Department Manager for Life Sciences in Ireland and participate in regular Life Sciences calls with the wider European Sustainability team to aid in the management and sharing of resources and knowledge.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Management of sustainability projects for the Ireland Life Sciences team including successful delivery of all related sustainability goals and targets.

  • Provide guidance and clear delegation of tasks to junior team members.

  • Engage with the client, design and construction teams to ensure sustainability objectives are embedded in the project.

  • Tracking and reporting of relevant project sustainability objectives and preparation of deliverables as per the project program.

  • Facilitating guidance for project teams regarding the following certification processes (e.g. LEED, BREEAM and WELL)

  • Aid the Sustainability Department Manager and European Director on business development.

  • Research future sustainability legislation and green building rating systems to ensure our clients and wider Jacobs team are aware of upcoming changes / opportunities.

  • Work with Life Sciences team on the research and preparation of white papers / thought pieces.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Third level qualification in Engineering or similar (Mechanical / Chemical / Environmental Engineering are preferred options).

  • Have significant number of years of experience in sustainability.

  • Green Building Accreditation, e.g. LEED Accredited Professional qualification

  • Understanding of software and tools with reference to energy modelling and carbon calculations.

  • Ability to conduct LCA assessments.

  • Understanding of the wider European sustainability goals, EU Taxonomy, CSRD etc.

  • Working knowledge of sustainability aspects and challenges related to decarbonization, energy and water savings, sustainable materials etc.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective communication to all levels to both internal and external clients.
