About the opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Traffic Engineer with an interest and experience in transport engineering projects to support our Irish team and, in particular, to engage with Active Travel design projects. Our Transport Planning team consists of multiple discipline specialists and in this role you will have the opportunity to work with multiple discipline leads as project scopes allow.

You will be based in our Dublin office and will work on local projects, whilst also interacting with our colleagues across Ireland, the UK, Europe and globally. There is also the opportunity to take up a secondment role for a period of time with one of our key clients.

Our local teams get involved in a range of exciting and innovative projects covering active travel, streets design, traffic engineering and local junction design/modelling. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate experience of the development and progression of active travel and mass transit, transformational placemaking, and traffic management solutions. We are currently assisting with the BusConnects programme for Ireland’s National Transport Authority, in addition to active travel schemes for Dublin City Council.

You will have the support of a line manager and our experts to guide your progress and will have an opportunity to share your skills and knowledge by training and supporting our junior staff. This role will allow you to pursue relevant business and technical training to support your career development as well as the freedom to grow your network and develop innovative solutions to chase new opportunities.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • To be degree qualified in a relevant discipline (or equivalent); you will have significant experience in the traffic engineering field with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile projects

  • Have achieved or be working towards Chartered Engineer or other relevant professional qualification e.g. Engineers Ireland, CIHT, TPP, CEng.

  • To be a creative, solution-oriented individual, with an understanding of designing inclusive schemes in an urban environment and demonstrable experience

  • A desire to develop your technical skills and the ability work independently undertaking design and ideally local junction modelling

  • To be able to manage tasks using appropriate programme, budget and quality controls

  • Flexibility to manage your workload, assist with new business opportunities and be aware of emerging technologies and the future evolution of the industry

  • Experience of project and client management, covering programme, resources, finance and quality control
