About the Opportunity

Our Transport Planning team is one of the most successful in the UK & Ireland, with a varied client base and strong pipeline of work, alongside supporting further project teams across the globe.

We are looking for an experienced individual with experience of managing technical teams to join our growing Transport Planning team (located in our Edinburgh office). Our local teams get involved in a range of exciting and innovative projects covering all elements of transport planning including spatial planning, traffic modelling, economic appraisal, active modes, public transport, traffic engineering, policy & strategy formation and business case development.

You will play a significant role in the management of the Scottish and Irish team, to deliver at a senior level as well as sharing your skills and knowledge by training and supporting our junior staff. You will also be given the ability to pursue relevant business interests to support your career development as well as the freedom to grow your network and develop innovative solutions to develop new opportunities for the business. You will be play a key role in expanding the already diverse range of services that we delivery, particularly in the area of masterplanning and development in mass transit.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline; you will have significant experience in the transport planning field with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects

  • A creative, solution-oriented individual, with a strong technical background, solid understanding of transport planning fields and demonstrable success of a range of high profile transport projects

  • In-depth knowledge / understanding of a number of transport planning fields, such as business case development, scheme feasibility, masterplanning, and transport assessments

  • Experience providing technical leadership, successfully managing projects and acting in a client-facing capacity

  • Project Management experience demonstrating responsibility for task, financial and risk controls

  • Accounting & project controls experience, working within a project-based environment

  • Robust written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely

  • Flexibility to manage diverse workload, assist with new business opportunities and embrace emerging technologies, product solutions and the future evolution of the industry

Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have:

  • Broader transport planning experience, with understanding of wider policy and strategy, modelling and traffic engineering

  • International experience

  • Economic appraisal experience

  • Line management and technical mentoring experience

Education/ Qualifications

  • Bachelor and higher qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject

  • Chartered Engineer / Transport Planner or working towards Chartered status with membership of a relevant professional institution
