We currently have an opportunity within our Transportation team for a Transport Planner/Modeller, in Edinburgh, where you will make your mark and influence the continuing growth of Jacobs.

Job Responsibilities:

As a Transport Consultant you will be involved in the delivery of a wide range of strategic transport projects, on behalf of Government Agencies and Local Authority clients but with opportunities to engage with colleagues from across the UK.

You will support a team working on a variety of transport planning projects, ranging from transport modelling and scheme appraisal to planning policy development.

Qualifications

Essential:

We are looking for Transport Consultants to fulfil a range of analytical, policy/strategy and business case development functions. We will expect:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant subject for example Mathematics, Geography or Economics

  • You will have experience as a Transport Planner for road and/or public transport studies with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects

  • Ability to produce clear, precise and coherent analysis and reports from transport models and transport appraisal techniques

  • Ability to work both as part of a sophisticated multi-disciplinary team as well as possessing the ability to work independently to solve problems

Desirable:

  • MSc in Transport or equivalent experience

  • Wider experience of local transport planning work e.g. travel plans, network management, data collection, Business Case development etc

  • Experience of project and client management

  • Experience in working with Micro and/or Macro modelling software (e.g. SATURN, CUBE, VISUM, VISSIM, Junctions9, TRANSYT, LINSIG etc)

  • Experience of statistical analysis / programming and data analysis using GIS packages such as ArcGIS, QGIS or MapInfo software

  • Chartered Engineer or other relevant professional accreditation (Chartered Membership)
