Jacobs Environmental Engineer/Geoscientist in Edmonton, Alberta

When it comes to environmental consulting, we’re focused on on working with our clients today to improve tomorrow. We’re looking for an Environmental Engineer or Geoscientist to work on site characterization and remediation projects.

Based in Edmonton, you’ll work with other experienced scientists, engineers, and project managers who are ready to collaborate and mentor you, and you’ll pass your knowledge on to others. Challenging projects will grow your career and experience with Jacobs. You’ll use your experience in soil and groundwater investigation and remediation, creating conceptual site models, preparing remediation options and cost benefit analyses, and developing remedial action plans based on those analyses. You should have previous field experience which you will use to assist in project scoping, task management, and to recommend potential modifications to the project management team that would improve safety, efficiency, cost, and/or compliance of field investigations and remediation systems. Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, civil/environmental engineering, or related field

  • Professional registration with APEGA or ability to obtain through reciprocity of an alternate professional registration

  • Professional experience leading and creating investigation workplans, creating conceptual site models, completing cost benefit analysis on remedial options, developing complex multi-year remediation action plans, and designing environmental remediation systems

  • Professional experience in field investigation work methodology and procedures used in the environmental industry

  • Hands-on field experience with implementing/operating remediation systems to achieve specified endpoints and/or guidelines

  • Demonstrated experience working with relevant regulations, particularly those related to risk-based remediation in the AB and BC regulatory environments

  • Experience as primary author of complex investigation and remediation reports

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license or equivalent

Ideally, You’ll Also Have :

  • Hands-on experience with high-resolution characterization methods

  • Working knowledge of 3D visualization tools such as Earth Volumetric Studio (EVS) and geographic information systems (GIS)

  • Experience with risk management plans and site closure planning

  • History of effective collaboration with multiple technical disciplines including experts in environmental engineering, hydrogeology, chemistry, and risk assessment to complete investigations and remedial actions

  • Risk assessment in the application of site-specific guideline calculations, including experience and understanding of human health risk assessment

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing to clearly provide detailed work
