Perform in-house solid propellant mixing, characterization, and testing. Conduct solid propellant mixes to test and evaluate new energetic materials and develop advanced formulations for aerospace systems. Conduct material compatibility; thermal stability; mechanical, hazard and ballistic testing on propellant and propellant ingredients to include impact, friction, ESD, card gap, strand burner and tensile testing.
Aid in development of safety related documents including operating procedures, hazard communication programs, permits, chemical hygiene plans, and hazard analyses for propellant development and characterization operations.
Document and recordkeeping of data from mixes, characterization, testing, operating procedures, waste streams, etc. Provide routine equipment maintenance; help identify, service and repair equipment problems. Must have high school diploma + 5 years’ work experience.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
• Live operations, to include propellant mixing, casting, or handling of live oxidizer and fuel materials and products
• Performing cause and corrective action activities to permanently eliminate defects using root cause analysis tools
• Aid in working with concurrent engineering team to create Build-to-Packages (i.e. engineering and planning documents SOPs [Standard Operating Procedures])
• Authorizing, updating and reviewing SOPS and hazard analysis
• Incorporating process improvements
• Self-starter that takes initiative to complete tasks and assignments with little supervision
• Strong problem-solving skills and oral and written communication skills
• Strong organization and multi-tasking skills
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing Techniques
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Interpreting blue prints and specifications
• Experience working with energetic materials and processes (preferred)
• Strong inter-personal and customer service skills
• Process Control room operations
Ordering necessary chemicals and equipment
Some engineering, chemistry, and/or mechanic skills favorable
Unusual or Special Physical Requirements
Must be able to wear PPE including lab coat, safety glasses, respirator,
Hearing protection, foot protection. Able to bend over and maneuver in small spaces. 100%

Criticality of attendance
1 st shift RDO schedule 44h work week followed by 36h work week
Overtime as needed to complete tasks
