About the Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Flood Risk Consultant to to join our Water Catchment Management team in the South West. Our team works across a range of clients and geographies across the full project lifecycle from feasibility studies through appraisal and optioneering to detailed design and site support, providing a wide range of opportunities to develop your experience and advance your career.

Your role will be to lead the technical delivery of appraisal projects for flood risk management schemes with support and guidance from industry experts in this field. Working with others, you will help to supervise, coordinate and support junior staff to deliver high quality work to programme and budget. You will use your experience and knowledge to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions and take ownership of client relationships to contribute to business development.

Your role will include:

  • Applying your technical knowledge in the appraisal of flood risk management solutions, including the production of client-facing technical deliverables

  • Working with colleagues to proactively lead diverse and multi-disciplinary teams to take an integrated approach to identifying and developing sustainable flood risk management schemes

  • Fostering and maintaining strong client relationships

  • Contributing to an engaged and supportive team environment with active involvement in the professional development of yourself and others

  • Working to meet health & safety and overall project quality objectives

  • Supporting development of pricing and technical methodology for new commissions

  • Contributing your own innovative ideas, helping us to deliver better solutions to our clients

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • We are looking for enthusiastic problem solvers who enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will need:

  • An undergraduate degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography or a related discipline

  • To be chartered or approaching chartership with ICE or CIWEM

  • Experience of delivering appraisal projects, including the production of business case documents and associated deliverables

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, planning policy, guidance and design standards relating to flood risk management schemes

  • Experience of coordinating technical teams and reviewing work

  • Ability to scope, budget and programme projects and tasks

  • Strong client-facing skills

  • A pro-active approach to health, safety, wellbeing and protecting the environment
