Senior Transport Planner

We currently have an opportunitywithin our Connectivity business in our Exeter office for you to workwith a team of transport planners and modellers on a variety of transportplanning, sustainable travel and other related projects.

You would support thedevelopment and management of sustainable travel projects and also support onwider transport planning and policy projects. Candidates should have goodwritten and communication skills and be able to innovate and problem-solve andbe passionate about the promotion of sustainable travel.

Occasional travelwithin the UK and/or overseas may be required.


The candidate shouldhave a degree in a relevant subject, for example Geography. We will alsoexpect:

  • Experience in the promotion of sustainable travel, and the development of active travel programmes of work.

  • Experience in transport planning projects, including the production of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Strategies

  • Experience of handling and analysing data.

  • Ability to work both as part of a sophisticated multi-disciplinary team as well as possessing the ability to work independently to solve problems.

  • Experience of project and client management covering programme, resources, finance and quality control.

  • Track record of successfully mentoring and developing junior colleagues and sharing technical knowledge.

  • Demonstrate collaborative behaviours and engaging style of delivery.

  • Degree qualified, you will have experience as a Transport Planner in undertaking transport studies and sustainable travel promotion with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects.



  • MSc in Transport or equivalent experience.

  • Wider experience of local transport planning work e.g. network management, Business Case development, transport modelling etc.

  • Experience in working with junction modelling software (e.g. Junctions8, TRANSYT, LINSIG etc).

  • Experience of statistical analysis / programming.

  • Have achieved, or be working towards Chartered Engineer or other relevant professional accreditation (Chartered Membership).
