Engineering Technician II

As a part of the test staff for the event, personnel will perform limited technical functions related to the support of testing activities such as operation, operator level maintenance and modifications. Person will be required to operate/maintain military tactical radios; send/receive and score voice/data transmissions and operate/maintain equipment within EPG's instrumentation suite. Appropriate boots and attire are required.

May also be required to drive military vehicles (i.e. HMMWV or CUCV pickup truck) to accommodate test activity.


Education and Experience:

High School Diploma and 3 years experience, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Required to have some practical knowledge of science or engineering, and mathematics or computer science. Must meet all of the following criteria: Be able to provide semi-professional technical support for engineers working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. Work pertains to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment. May be required to perform logistical support of SUT, SUT components, SUT vehicle maintenance support.

Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Working outside in the various weather elements (rain, snow, wind, sunshine, etc.) associated with the local area surrounding Fort Bliss and any other locations you may travel to. May be working in a confined space like a HMMWV military vehicle. Will be outside working out on the desert terrain with uneven inclines and slopes. Could also be assigned to work inside in an office environment.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require filing, typing, and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. May be required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs of equipment.

Equipment and Machines

Ability to operate personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone,fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies andother work related tools as required. Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, TWT Amplifiers, Power Meters and Various Antenna and other RF electronics.


Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements. Could be required to work aswing, evening or midnight work schedule

Other Essential Functions

Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required. Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
