IBS System Administrator
The selected candidate will provide system administration support for the Joint Interoperability Test Command's Integrated Broadcast Service (IBS) laboratory. Support consists of maintaining the existing lab infrastructure, software, and tools, in both physical and virtual computing environments, that enable the testing of the IBS-capable systems. Software tools require maintenance for version compatibility, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs, IAVAs), etc.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Install and configure Tactical Data Processors (TDPs) in the Multi-Function Lab (MFL) spaces. Provide the distributed infrastructure necessary to host the servers and the host desktops for producer and consumer TDPs and IBS information exchanges.
Independently configure for operational-like events to support testers and required test events and demonstrations.
Coordinate with the points of contact manning the Information Management Elements (IME), firewalls, and guards encountered while executing test events to ensure free access and unimpeded data exchanges in support of the test mission.
Enable over-the-air networks and maintain Joint Tactical Terminals with network access coordination, crypto maintenance, onboard hardware/software/firmware maintenance, TDP interfaces via local networks, and support JITC direct injection capabilities onto the Northern Command Common Interactive Broadcast (CIB).
Perform Retina Scans and generate and deliver required reports to the Network Security Officer and upload results into the Vulnerability Management System (VMS).
Create and maintain all current documentation for respective systems/labs, including system topologies and diagrams, Internet Protocol (IP) address schemes, and router/firewall configurations.
Implement all applicable patches/updates including Information Assurance (IA) Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs), IA Vulnerability Bulletins (IAVB), and Technical Advisories for respective systems.
Update the System Security Plan (SSP), prepare Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms), and submit Configuration Change Requests as necessary to maintain MFL accreditation.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree; or
Associate's degree with at least 6 years of experience; or
60 semester hours of formal education working towards an Associate's or Bachelor's degree with at least 6 years of experience; or
12 years of experience.
Requires an 8570.01M IAT/IAM/IASAE Level II certification.
The degree must be in a relevant technical curriculum and experience must be related to the job duties.
Must have at least 6 years of experience with performing system administration duties.
Must have experience with performing system administration duties on at least one of the following operating systems: 1) Windows, 2) Linux, 3) Unix.
Requires one certification in relevant area:
Ability to effectively interface with technical and non-technical staff at all organizational levels.
Quality oral and written communication skills.
Analytical and critical thinking skills.
Practical and working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
BS/AS in Computer Science, Information Management, or related field.
- Knowledge of IBS. The employee will be expected to demonstrate an expansive knowledge of the IBS Enterprise, system, subsystem operations, and be able to replicate/configure operational-like test configurations for events within the confines of the MFL.
This position will require a Top Secret/SCI security clearance at time of hire.
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require filing, typing, and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required.
An inside and outside environment (considerations: closed quarters, close together, lighting). Needs to be able to work well with co-workers and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions.
Equipment and Machines
Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work related tools as required.
Core work hours will be between 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.
Other Essential Functions
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required. Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
