Your Impact:

Jacobs Technology is seeking a Motor Vehicle Mechanic Helper to support the Electronic Proving Ground (EPG) contract in Fort Huachuca, AZ.

  • Candidate will support basic Motorpool needs which will include moving of vehicles, assisting with shipping or receiving of equipment, parts, tools etc.

  • Candidate may also assist with office functions such as parts ordering, logistics, and status tracking, generating basic status reports, etc.

  • Familiar with washing, cleaning, and lubricating vehicles; loading, unloading, and storing automotive parts and supplies, and maintaining work areas.Candidate will be working directly with mechanics, office personnel, and customers throughout the day.

  • Candidate will report directly to the Motor Pool Foreman to receive daily assignments and priorities and report the status of those assignments at the end of the day.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Education and Experience:

  • Associate Degree in a relevant discipline and 7 years of experience, or

  • any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Working outside in the various weather elements (rain, snow, wind, sunshine, etc.) associated with the local area surrounding Fort Huachuca & Sierra Vista. May be working in a confined space like a HMMWV military vehicle.

Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to safely operate vehicles in a congested space. Must adhere to ALL safety policies and procedures. Other tasks as assigned.

Equipment and Machines

Must be able to safely operate common commercial and military tactical vehicles in confined spaces such as parking/staging areas loading docks and ramps. Use of basic mechanic's tools.


Regular hours will be variable, depending on the workload requiring to be met. When actively working, the working hours can be between Monday - Saturday 6:00am - 6:00pm (subject to change based on test requirements). Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements. You could be required to work an evening/midnight work schedule.

Other Essential Functions

  • Attending and participating in Motor Pool training and meetings.

  • Ensure vehicles are clean and presentable.

  • Ensure lot is organized, clean, and free from trash, litter, and debris, chock blocks and drip pans are in place.

  • Arrange and park vehicles in designated lot areas.

  • Ensure government license plates and appropriate markings are affixed to vehicles.

  • Oversee and maintain keys.

  • Help maintain workspaces and promote shop safety by cleaning work areas and removing hazardous materials such as oil, gasoline, or other fluids.

  • Inform supervisor of issues as they arise.

  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures.

Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers.

Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.

Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others

Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.

Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required.

Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects.

This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary.

When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
