Jacobs Technology is seeking a Technical Editor to support the Electronic Proving Ground (EPG) at Ft. Huachuca, AZ.
The Technical Editor will prepare, edit, and publish technical documentation in support of specialized electronics testing.
The Technical Editor will coordinate closely with test personnel to provide clear, accurate, and error-free documents that meet deadlines.
Job may entail occasional overtime.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Associate Degree in a relevant discipline and 5 years experience, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Familiar with Journalism, Technical Writing, Mass Communications, Science, or Engineering.
Background in technical writing/editing and demonstrated ability to describe complex ideas in a concise and clear manner.
Familiarity with standard engineering concepts, practices, and procedures, as well as pertinent government instructions and specifications.
Mastery of Microsoft Word and its advanced features.
Proficiency in using templates, macros, and other automated software features.
Working knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to foster positive interactions with government customers and team members.
Strong leadership skills and ability to backfill for team lead during periods of absence.
Essential duties involve:
Tracking document process to ensure the customer is kept aware of staffing benchmarks
Preparing weekly forecasts, and making resource adjustments as necessary based on the fluidity of workload.
A keen eye for detail/ability to assist team lead with performing quality assurance (QA) reviews on documents produced by other team members to ensure editorial detail and quality of work are in a manner keeping with government metrics.
MUST have a secret clearance in order to start work.
Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting). Needs to be able to work well with co-workers, customer, and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions. Work site is located at Ft. Huachuca, AZ.
Equipment and Machines
Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, and other equipment including desk supplies and other work-related tools as required.
Regular hours will be between Monday - Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm. This is a 9/80 work schedule allowing for every other Friday off. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.
Other Essential Functions
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers.
Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others.
Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects.
When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
Must pass drug testing.
