Position Summary:

Jacobs Canada Inc. is seeking a Sr. Project Controls Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for the oversight of project controls for small capital projects on the Suncor Oil Sands site.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Financial control, reporting, monitoring, and analysis decisions under project manager

  • Provides progress and performance reporting for projects

  • Provides cost control analysis, including trend reports

  • Provides risk assessment and mitigation strategies

  • Provides technical and operational supervision to assigned personnel

  • Frequent contact with project management, project team members, Jacobs management personnel, as well as occasional contacts with client management.

  • Lead Change Management program

  • Piping/mechanical estimating skills are an asset.

  • Post job analysis and creation of client value adds

  • Issues project cost reports including forecast final costs and variances

  • Must have a demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review and present cost engineering and cost estimating projects with a minimum of supervision.

Qualifications

  • Engineering or construction based degree or diploma

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Project Management and Controls in a construction environment. Note that Major Projects experience is considered an asset but candidates with sustaining capital experience will be given preference.

  • Knowledge of technical cost analysis, and engineering and construction management

  • Knowledge of applicable Jacobs Standards and procedures

  • High degree of IT technical proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Project, Sharepoint)

  • Knowledge of Oracle and Primavera an asset

  • Ability to interpret piping isometrics, structural and equipment drawings is an asset.

  • Knowledgeable in SAP an asset.
